For the Horde!

I spent the better part of the weekend playing my newly converted Troll hunter and having a blast. And all this completely solo, not once grouping except for battlegrounds.
The character, is in fact, the second one I ever made and my tanking bear is 4 years old. Good ol, Porkchop. he always lagged behind and I never enjoyed playing him much until now.
The rest of my toons are still alliance and I'm still the loneliest member of a 500 character guild. I've managed to sever friendships that in the process of making, built a wall against the rest of the guild. I log in and no one says hello to me. I show up to raids and stick around because I knwo what I'm doing and the idea of having Horacio around is good but.....yeah.
Life is great otherwise but in Wow, its pretty lonely. Pen and I were both sure she'd get her DK from 79 to 80 over Labor Day weekend and she ended up logging in for about 2 hours Saturday night, I think. She needs to social aspect more than I do and there's very little draw for her these days either.
So...I will continue to raid on H. I have a war chest of gold stored up and enough trade skill industries to keep me sustained without logging in for any other reason. Oh, I will but right now....if I have free time, its likely to see me log in my hunter and play him.
I should hit 80 in short order and will likely gear him up through PvP. Alterac Valley is far and away the fastest leveling from 70-80 and having a pile of honor to buy new gear at the end doesn't suck.
From there....I might join a guild and try to casual raid one night a week, get some Naxx10 done and what not. Maybe more. I haven't discounted the possibility of sending more over up to and including converting to Horde full time.
Eh, in the end, I'm having fun playing less and when I am, being a troll.

The undead are pretty awesome. Not as awesome as trolls, but still pretty cool.
I did a quest this weekend, one leading up to the Wrathgate event and some crusty old undead guy in Venomspite wants me to go collect some Green Dragon Tears.
"I don't know the details but apparently when they die, they cry alot"
I LMAO'd. Srs.
I still think Griftah is the best NPC ever. Trolls definitely have that ghetto/white trash vibe. There are some quests out of Conquest Hold in Grizz that have you collect crap for this troll and he tries to swindle the commander of the outpost, who is an orc and get irate.
Its something for another blog but I've always viewed the world (of warcraft) through the lens of a human character. Everything that happens is though them and on the Horde side, it seems very Orc-centric. It shifted somewhat for Belfs and goats but it feels like some races are kinda minor characters in the grand scheme....Tauren, Trolls, Gnomes....
And not for lack of trying to get one for H from ZG, I FINALLY get to ride a raptor. It is awesome.
Lol, I logged in my lvl 27 Orc warrior and bought his wolf to ride. Awesome.Posted 09-08-2009 at 10:24 AM by Horacio

I love playing undead because to me they're so invested in beating the Lich King. Like, everyone else hates the Scourge, fine, but for the Forsaken there's that extra level of loathing. Putress in the Wrathgate cinematic gets that so right - why meet the Lich King face to face in honourable battle when you could just plague the fuck out of everyone?
I love the orcs, they're a close second for me, and Saurfang is undeniably a badass, but I get a little frustrated by their sense of honour sometimes. It's all about the sewer-dwelling, brooding, back-stabbing undead and their creepy creepy apothecaries.Posted 09-08-2009 at 12:02 PM by Jalousie

I love the orcs and when race change comes I'm changing my shaman to orc (and probably to orc female, because the attack animations are sick and they're smaller than orc males...the only racial I'm REALLY interested in is being shorter). But Thrall has been kind of a pansy lately. While I don't like Garrosh either (he's just a douchebag), at least he's willing to go out there and get in people's faces and get things done.
TBH, Saurfang should just lop off both their heads and take over...he's clearly the orc for the job.Posted 09-08-2009 at 12:22 PM by Ion

I really like the Taurens the best. I like the artwork and the cultural styling. The Native American influence in the race is awesome and it leads for a ton of great story possibilities. I always wished the Taurens were a bit more of a key part of the lore besides beating up Centaurs and helping Thrall move in to Durotar. When you think of a wall of immovable kickass, you think Tauren.Posted 09-08-2009 at 12:24 PM by Khue

Chuck Norris and Saurfang once met in battle. They fought for three days and nights and finally decided to call a truce. Their combat was so terrible and manly that it caused the extinction of the dinosaurs, the sinking of the Titanic and the end of Sylvester Stallone's career all through ripples in the space/time continum. It was like dividing by zero.Quote:Saurfang is undeniably a badass
Saurfang is unquestionably loyal to Thrall and in a way, lends a little bit of legitimacy to the more diplomatic war chief. He really should stomp a mudhole in Garrosh's arse.
All this while Don Horacio, Lord of the Alliance orchestrates a coup to depose King Wrynn because he's the biggest douchebag NPC in the game.Posted 09-08-2009 at 03:54 PM by Horacio

At least Wrynn I can understand to some measure. He could do with a bit more intelligent scripting though. But Garrosh...? ug.
I've been contemplating a change of scenery too, but by the looks of things we won't get the faction change thing soon here in Europe. And yeah - that would totally be a troll.Posted 09-09-2009 at 12:05 AM by Aethelas

I've played a lot of different races at this point. Human, Gnome, Tauren, Troll, Undead, Orc, Drainei and Bloodelf. And the one I loved the most because of the race, and not the class was troll. They just have that jamaican way of life, feels like they are smoking pot at times and pretty much just chill out. Trolls have their fair share of enemies amongst their own kind, ZG, ZA, and the loose tribes around Azeroth and Northrend.
I just thin their Lore is great. Love it.

The best part about trolls is how they never seem to run out of pissed-off animal spirits to worship who want nothing more than to swallow their souls and turn them all into an army of slave worshipers.
How can you NOT like a race that's that gullible?Posted 09-09-2009 at 06:00 AM by Belak

Well folks, I have enjoyed my time as a troll and as I approach 80 (Friday?) I've been thinking more and more about end game. Not like END game, end game because who wants a huntard in blues and welfare epics in end game? A few runs through various heroics and 10 mans could remedy that in short order.
As such, I'm looking for a guild. I have a few leads and one or two that are looking appealing. To be clear: for now, I am an Allliance player and I am committed to raiding Wed/Thurs as a tank. H isn't going anywhere but I'd like to see the other side. I'm not looking to fill a raid slot except in emergencies. I mean, I've done U10 on 4 different characters already so I know my way around.
In any case...yeah, just looking for a place to kick back and hang out and honestly, make some new friends.Posted 09-10-2009 at 08:17 AM by Horacio
