"Forewarned, forearmed; to be prepared is half the victory."
Cervantes, the author of Don Quixote, penned this epic phrase in the 1600's. It reminds me of the phrase on the Burning Crusade trailer... where Illidan Stormrage declares "You are not prepared!"
As a "casual" tank who has been in the protection business from the UBRS/MC days all the way to tier 6 content now, sites like tankspot have helped me go from being a noob tank OT'ing MC and UBRS to being able to MT bosses in MH and BT.
I've learned a ton from knowledgeable tanks such as Cider, Vene, Satrina and others, and though my RL schedule has prohibited me from getting in on the more "hardcore" side of the raiding community, I am part of an awesome guild that is great at maintaining a "casual" atmosphere while getting in on tier 6 level content.
Hopefully through this blog I'll be able to share some insights from my experiences as a "casual" tier 6 raider.

I disagree with your numbers - your threat is dependant on many factors, and your threat needs are determined by your dps.
Having maxed hit rating is really nice, don't get me wrong, but it's not required by a long shot.
Also, your hit ratings are weird. Hit capped for melee, but not for spells? Why not?Posted 07-18-2009 at 05:57 AM by Martie

Because at some point you have to ask whether it's worth it to cap any stat. That's a LOT of hit to cap spells, and there's really no realistic chance you will hit that cap and still maintain a decent amount of avoidance/mitigation.Posted 07-18-2009 at 06:07 AM by Durenas

Yes, and the same applies to melee hit.
It's good to have it maxed, but not at the expense of everything.
I've tanked just about every fight there is by now, without ever having threat issues due to my hit rating.Posted 07-18-2009 at 06:19 AM by Martie

I must agree, I don't worry about capping hit or expertise. Then, I am a paladin, so I get 10 free expertise from glyph of vengeance.Posted 07-18-2009 at 07:24 AM by Durenas

I don't advise going out of your way to reach the "hit minimum," but I definitely advise reaching 26 expertise for bosses, even in your EH gear.
