... and I'll show you a a tank alt / offspec.

Isn't that how the saying goes? I'm a pretty huge exception to that rule. I'm terribly impatient at DPS. It's not that I'll go nuts at the start of the fight and never give the tank a fighting chance. I'll give them time to get a decent lead on threat but it really irks me to hold myself to significantly lower TPS than I could be putting out in bearform myself.

Perhaps it's just that I can get away with 5+ seconds of aggro in most situations that hasn't taught me to be more considerate. Maybe if they made cower not suck it would be easier to be considerate as well! In any case I find it very helpful to keep around a pocket pally for hand of salv in addition to my pocket traumabot and pocket hysteria. I've got quite an entorage now.

    I don't wait for anything. I have a paladin and warrior tank, so i know how they work to a point. my main raider at the moment is my Rogue. You have till I get up there to have threat established, or your doomed. I like you, have a pocket tree to keep me an the tank up. I know that sounds bad. I am not the uber leeet tank that most are, but I can keep threat on me an let the DPS do there job.

    Honestly, playing aggressively as DPS is sometimes the biggest defining difference between a good and exceptional DPS. There's a difference between being stupid and aggressive, though.

    Yar, I am very patient on my alts when it comes to TPS.

    However, I'm impatient when the tank is just standing around not pulling stuff even when everyone is sitting at 100% mana.

    So I'm patient...but also impatient. Yay paradox! Or was it oxymoron? Ya got me.

    If I play my mage and it's not safe to start casting on the pull, or there are breaks between pulls, it makes me want to play my tank instead.

    I've found Faerie Fire is an effective pulling tool in catform as well. "Oh look the cat pulled again... looks like we need to pick it up! Bad kitty!"

    @Ariedan

    And the difference between stupid and aggressive is usually about half a second.

    In my tanking and DPSing experience, that's the interval between an easy pull and having to chase stuff all over.

    I find the thing about DPS is no one wants to take the GCD to use the threat reducing abilities. I can understand if its a boss like northrend beasts, recently I've been playing a destro lock and the 3 min CD on soulshatter really doesn't help anything, but if you have feign/windshear and other low CD abilities i could understand going all out a little sooner then I normally would.

    The problem with cat druids is that cower is a worthless threat dump. By the time I've used it, my auto attacks during that period have already caused more threat than cower dumped.
