Progression VS Upgrades

Two progression bosses down in one week!
Mimiron and Vezax fell in consecutive days. Mimiron in our second day of seeing him, Vezax in our first. A great sigh of relief as Vezax dropped the Emblem of Conquest that I needed to buy the Tier chest piece. Thank god. I thought I would have to wait until next Wednesday to finally get the 2 piece bonus.
That leads into my raid availability. At the moment, Duskguard alternates 3 day weeks and 4 day weeks to get through progression. We move relatively slowly, but some weeks are amazing (like this one). With a pregnant wife, two jobs, and housework to get ready for the baby, I have most of my time filled in the week. About a month ago, I stated that my availability would only be two of the nights. But I was letting the leadership pick those two nights to help fill out our tanking core. I have only been raiding progression days since. Many times, I have not even seen an upgrade or emblem drop at all on those two days.
After getting 10 emblems in 4 weeks, I have decided that will not be the case anymore. I will choose one of the first days to gain emblems, then the leader may choose the other day. I have not fallen behind on gear per se. I was lucky to get some of the first tanking drops in Ulduar (see Titanguard, a ring, Kologarn's legs). But I am afraid that I will. The leadership has faith in my tanking, but I am losing faith in my gear's ability to help prop me up.
Faith in your tanking ability: Good
Knowing that the faith may be fleeting: Bad

You don't need gear to be a good tank. Others will think that, but I came into ulduar with my new guild as the least geared tank and guess what, I MT'd everything.
Why? I know what I'm doing. I know so many tanks that don't have a clue about how things multiplicatively stack with CDs and when to do what and what is the best place to move when this happens.
If you are a good tank, you will get your raid spot, the gear follows. Now that I am on par with the other tanks, there isn't even a discussion about who is tanking what unless I want someone else tanking something.
Grats on your t8! I've yet to get any! Just wearing the off-set pieces thanks to shaman insane EPGP!Posted 06-30-2009 at 06:51 PM by Wars
