The past week and a bit, my guild hasn't raided. At all. We're scheduled to raid four times a week, Monday to Thursday. Usually we get 14-15 people Tuesday, 10-12 Wednesday and between 8 and 11 Thursday and Monday.

Yesterday we had 7 people show up.

What's happened? What's wrong? I love this guild and want to stay, but I think I like raiding more.

I'm inclined to wait another two weeks and see what happens, and then if no raiding happens, maybe move on.

I don't know, this has yet to happen to me. Thoughts?

I think you're being very patient. Nothing kills a raiding guild faster than people getting frustrated by cancelled raids, and I've seen guilds crumble from this in under 2 weeks. As a GM, I've learnt that a 25's guild needs a steady flow of new recruits. People go casual, don't want to do learning fights, have irl stuff, want to be carried...billions of reasons come up which all impact attendance. I'm assuming you're a 10s guild unless you guys pug the rest for 25's, but 7 or 8 does not even make a 10 possible.

I look after the majority of our recruiting, and it's something I'm very proactive with. If I get a sniff of struggling to find people when I'm sending out raid invites - or repping people with bad connections/lag, I immediately start looking for new blood. I know how frustrating it is when people aren't turning up & raids get cancelled from my previous guild.

I'd suggest speaking to your recruitment officer/gm/rl & see if there's plans to recruit the numbers needed, and maybe even if there's anything you can do to help out. I'm not sure of your guild setup & pulling power for good quality raiders but it's worth a shot, because it sounds to me like you guys have a severe lack of numbers & someone needs to fix it fast before you lose more.

My guild is (was?) a fairly good 10 man guild. Before ToC came out, we had gotten our Rusted Proto Drakes. When ToC came out we started to have a few problems. We didn't get many shots at ToGC, but managed to get the first two bosses down the one night we tried.

Now, we haven't raided in a while, as I have stated. Last night we scrapped together 9 people for a quick ToC10 over an hour, but then our 9th had to go so we called it.

My server is terrible. There are 3 decent Horde guilds, two of which are doing 25s and we're the third. Sadly, not good pickings for recruiting. I'll see about giving our recruitment officer a kick to the behind so we can get more people though.

    Thanks for the advice.

You'll find many many guilds run into dry periods where things will go somewhat stagnant. As Tygorl said, at that point recruitment has to fire up a bit and get new people in.
In my experiences some people become bored with content, either from getting all they needed, or perhaps not wanting to deal with the guild hitting a rough patch on a boss.
At other times there's RL issues that prevent people from getting on alltogether! But in the end it can turn into a chain effect where people see nobody on and figure nothing is happening. That's why in addition to recruitment the officer core should be active in figuring out the problem. From asking absent members their reasons for being offline, to prodding and encouraging people to get their butts online for raids because they are happening.
As was mentioned, speak up and see whats going on, see if there's anything you can do to help forge out a great raiding core.
