Well it has come down to changing realms for me. The one I am in is not a good one for my alliance main and if I want to see some t4/t5 content before the expansion I need to transfer soon.

But where to? I obviously also want to move to a realm that has a lot of alliance WotLK potential. I'll get to 80 fairly fast, that's not a problem. But I don't want to get on a realm that could die once WotLK comes out.

So how do you choose a realm? Friends I know, but most of my friends are on the horde side (go figure hehehe). Considering I am still looking for t4 content I probably don't want an overly progressed realm, but at the same time if I want to get to 80 content soon, so I cannot go to a under-progressed one.

I also might have to look into a guild now via the wow forums. Feels like writing a resume all over again lol.

What are the things that you would consider when choosing a server to tranfer to?

    I think the best move you could make is just starting a horde-toon with your friends. Really you could lvl to 70 before wotlk and see most of kara in just 3 hours a day played time.

    If you are dead set on changing realms for alliance, Proudmoore is quite nice, high pop, lots of different timezone people, along with many aussies for morning raids.

    I wouldn't transfer at this point now just to see the T4/5 content before Wrath. You could, but I'm guessing most guilds these days are skipping the better part of it and diving straight into T6. Add on possible HP reduction they'll be getting in 3.0 and no one will want to do T4/5 content.

    Personally, if I was in that situation, this is what I'd do...

    First I'd determine my expectations of Wrath. Are you going to want to stick with 25mans? Are you going to prefer a tighter knit 10man core?

    Next I'd scour those sites that keep track of raid progression and find a server that has a healthy population that can somewhat support it's raid playerbase. For example, my server has always been very high population, but it does not support a healthy raid environment partially because it's an RP server. The economy is also quite terrible as well, and most items cost far more than they do on other servers.

    You can also look at it from a PVP perspective as well. If you're very competitive in PVP, look for a server in a popular Battlegroup.

    Once you think you've found a server, you look up the guilds and see if any of them are pre-preparing for Wrath by picking up new members. If you're filling out a new application, I'd take a read at Criss' guide on the subject. http://www.tankspot.com/forums/blogs...any-guild.html

    Honestly, I don't really feel there's such a thing as an "overly progressed" realm as you put it. Just because you roll on the same server as those guys that had a top 5 worldwide Kil'Jaeden kill doesn't mean you won't be able to find a guild that caters more to your play style and schedule. But yes, don't go to an under-progressed realm, or a low population realm.

    And lastly, don't forget that Wrath is a clean slate. Before TBC, we had *maybe* 5 guilds in Naxx total, only one of which could kill Kel'Thuzad. Only 3 guilds on the server ever managed to kill C'Thun, and the other 7 or so couldn't get past the twins. Now all of a sudden we've got 12 guilds killing Illidan, and many more working their way up to him.

    Regardless of the server you choose, Wrath is going to level the playing field again. If you're one of the first to 80, shouldn't be hard to get noticed and get a spot in a raid.

    Wow, that was a long post. Sorry! ;_;
