Why should everyone tank...
And so my journey begins...
I just got inspired on starting this blog by one of Veneretios post. He was talking about accidental invited to a raid and how he wished that person that got invited to the raid wouldn't get kicked out.
Sometimes I think that's all I hope for, and accidental invite. I am ready to tank whatever has a skull mark, and no matter what the situation might be I know I am going to give it 110% +Dodge +Parry +Block.
So how does it look from the other side? How does wow look from someone who leveled his way up and read most articles about tanking and geared up somewhat without having a real raiding guild to speak for?
I can give you that prospective. And a noob one at that =)
So here I am, stuck at 440 defense yet uncrittable thanks to high resilience. Struggling on a 'dead' server but stubborn enough to keep going forward.
Pugging most evenings and getting headaches because of it. Balancing time with dailies, raising some skills and logging on my alt just because I need a break.
So what's pushing me forward?
Being a Tank. That simple.
I don't mean to offend any other role but I think that a tank has the biggest role in the end game. Yes, everyone is important and vital to a successful raid/5man. But yet the tank is typically give the reins of the party, typically the Tank explains the strategy or is assumed to know the strategy.
So at the end it turns out that Tanking is not only about 4322, avoidance and threat, but is also about unasked leadership, responsability... and sometimes the blame taker.
I think this is why not everyone wants to be a tank, but I can speak for myself and I can tell you I like to get the job nobody wants to do.
At lvl 62 I rolled prot, and I have been thinking Tank ever since. I have a Tank fever.

I respecced Prot at 63, had been tanking as Arms all through Azeroth.
I'm definitely thinking tank now. All my friends make "Psh!" comments when I ogle at high stam and defense rating. It makes me smile.
DPS is so overrated. (Personal experience.)Posted 09-26-2008 at 02:13 PM by nERVEcenter

Again I don't want to offend anyone but when I think dps I can't think anything else but: "easy gaming".
Obviously it can get mor einteresting when you get to highe end raiding, but still you are limited to the do more damage in less time without stealing aggro (which reallly is what the Tank needs to look at).
Thinking Tank also should make you wonder how everyone else "works". I rolled low level shammy, druid, priest and mage to understand them better, which I think in the long run is going to make me a better tank.Posted 09-26-2008 at 02:40 PM by Dunkealme
