Cross server transfers

At first I thought these were a godsend. Most servers have MAYBE 1 guild that fits my schedule, so if that guild falls apart or something happens I have to look at other servers to transfer to. 25 bucks to transfer sucks, but for the amount i play i feel it is worth it. However I just transferred about 2 weeks ago to a new server, and the guild i transfer to completely lied about them selves.
I tranfered onto the server expecting a solid guild progressing on 3d. what i found was a guild who had 15 people show up on raid nights for progression, 20 for naxx. On top of that my former alt in blues and 10 man gear out dpsed their full 25 man geared mages/warlocks/fury warriors. (hes an ele shaman, my new main) I'm not basing this off a 25 man naxx, I did 6 hours of 3d attempts where we never got vesperon below 85% before shadron landed.
After that I was chatting with some of the other guilds, just seeing whats out there. I didn't plan on leaving the guild right away, I was going to give them a shot. Some how the GM found out, i get kicked on the spot before i could speak to him.
So now 3.1 drops, I'm guildless and for the first time in my life no one needs an ele shaman. I've talked to a few guilds, most of them are not recruiting. Yet every guild complemented me on my well thought out, and written app. One even said i had a perfect rotation and gearing.
I've been playing for a long time, I've lead raids and helped lead guilds. If some one comes with a "well written application" with a "perfect rotation and gearing" Id snatch them up in a heart beat, If I didn't need their class I would at least offer a benched position.
Anyway I'm getting away from my point. I'm astounded people would lie and make people pay 25 dollars and lock them selves to a server. Its pretty easy to figure out when some one is dieing after you get there, and most would do what i did i think. You wont gain anything by lieing to get people to come to your guild. The guild i joined apparently like 4-5 people did exactly what i did and joined some of the other guilds on the server. It is just rubbish that people would do this to others, i'm completely screwed out of the release of ulduar due to the lies of some jackasses and honestly pissed because I cant raid, cant transfer to a new server, and wasted 25 dollars.

After trying to hold the crumbling pillars of a progression guild WHILE being main tank for too long, I quit (ultimately causing the guild to fail) in mid BC. A server transfer was available and I took it with a midlevel alt and retired my warrior. I had made...a substantial amount farming nagrand dry and took that money with the priest in hopes of either establishment of a guild and/or a legacy. As it was, I never joined a guild on that toon, quit till LK release and instead dusted off my warrior.
As it is, the server I'm on is as good as it gets. I know better then to try transferring anymore, as that money would be quite helpful now...
Basically, I feel your pain and also think transferring is not a solution. It's a way of avoiding your problems temporarily, but they catch up with you.
As it is, our guild leader is an elemental shaman, and he's the only one. We don't actively recruit as nobody really wants to join a guild of old farts who don't force raids or progression in a casual atmosphere. I have no intention of making the transfer mistake again, and instead am working proactively to make where I am a better place rather then expecting it to be that way or else I leave.Posted 04-15-2009 at 10:32 AM by Conreeaght
