The fire, always the fire...

you have to stay out of it.

Last week, we had an extra BT run because we were on the brinch of killing Illidari Council when we had to call Sunday's raid. We went back Monday, killed them and saw Illidan.

This week started rather sloppy. I'm never on Thursday raids, but they only killed the first four bosses, whereas last week they killed six. So Sunday I was in Black Temple, getting my first shot at Bloodboil and Reliquary of Souls (I got [item]Shadowmoon Insignia[/item]!). We slew Mother and Council quite rapidly, too, and stood fatigued before Akama.

The first thought going through my mind was "Let's try." Our raid leader decided against it, but announced another Monday raid (which we usually don't have) to try Illidan. As an offtank, I had of course prepared some Fire Resistance gear, and I devoted half an hour of my time to get both the cap and the uncrittable status. I have two badge items (chest and legs) and two Aldor blues (hands and head), with some extra stuff like the Mana Tombs shield and the Magtheridon ring.

Monday we found ourselves standing before Illidan, fully read up. Whispers I had sent the last hour were usually responded on with a late "Sorry, watching the video" or "Was reading tactics for Illidan". We found out Phase 1 is a joke. We wiped once because our hunter was a bit stressed (one of his first raids after we recruited him) and over-concentrated as he called it.

We failed at the Flames of Azzinoth. Stood in the beam twice, other tank once. One mage pulled aggro off the druid. Some enrage problems with pets and totems. I found out the most important thing in this phase for a tank is the beams, and the most important thing about the beams is your view and camera angle. Tuesday the tanks came together and discussed the phase. I think we're coming there... I'm going with a top view next time, vertically above my character.

I think we can get them down. We have to.
