Stupidity, and why I would be a horrible leader

Aaah, stupidity. Not paying attention. Lack of preparation, ignorance or just not grasping the fundamental basics of an encounter/class/spec. I hate it, with a passion.
I love the guild I am in right now. Great camaraderie, skilled players, good debates and we get shit done.
Until the encounter hinges on personal responsibility. Then stuff becomes unglued, fast. We've been plagued by having a core group of skilled players, offset with a few bad players. Unfortunately, we don't have enough strong core raiders to fill out a 25 man raid yet, so during the entirety of BC, we were forced to bring the bad ones. Our GM is insistent on stopping this practice, and weeding out the bad players, but this being our first foray into 25 man Naxx, we said fuck it, let's just fill the raid up.
Blew past Patchwerk with ease. Destroyed Grobbulus. Had issues on Gluth, but nothing we couldn't handle.
Thaddius. Oh Thaddius. The same 3-4 people dying, combined with fresh level 80s lead us to losing to the enrage timer every time. We had an explanation down for polarity switching, it should have taken us no longer than 1, maybe 2 attempts to get it down pat. Here we are on the 5th attempt, still losing people. I'm tearing my hair out in frustration, wanting to yell but holding myself back.
Hopefully, it's different this week. Fingers crossed. I would make a horrible GM. I don't have the patience to babysit egos.

Just call them out. If they can't focus enough to "stay out of the (electrical) fire", as it were then they should be told.
They'll either get the hang of it or not. Get your raid leader to impart to them how important it is not to die on this, since you're not only depriving the dps you would give, but also depriving the stacking multiplier.
I won't lie, we had bother with him as well, exact same problems you described but rather than call for a quick wipe, we made the people that were dead sit and watch those that could do the movement for the entire remainder of the fight to make sure they were paying attention.
Also, Deadly Boss Mods (perhaps other similar addons too) gives a very verbose alert and even a visual alert (a big arrow) should you need to change sides after a shift.
Most importantly after the fight , if you're alliance, don't forget to rush any clothie gnome out in the open by him/herself with an opposing charge to you.Posted 12-16-2008 at 04:33 AM by Pitstarter

Can't kick em. They just won't be promoted to 25 man raiders.
And we do call them out. And make them sit. Hopefully this week its different. *fingers crossed*Posted 12-16-2008 at 01:47 PM by DeviousOne
