Working on being a part-time tank

So, my main is resto shaman on the Alliance side and prior to that I was a hunter. Like many, I identified strongly with my first toon but as the game changed, the things I liked about my first toon changed.

My first major alt was a feral druid that I wanted to tank on (20-mans) but due to how things were in the guild, I never got the chance to. Basically, there were several prot warrior alts and they were better at tanking since the healing was needed. Healing a feral specc'ed druid pre-TBC was the best practice to learning to heal as a resto shaman

Anyway, in BC, I have tanked on and off on the druid but discovered that I tanked poorly and I could not hold aggro on more than two mobs consistantly.

So, I have basically shelved the druid and I am working on a prot paladin. I have seen some really great prot paladins and I have seen some awful ones. My goal is to tank 5-mans and maybe 10-mans.

This is my 7th attempt at a paladin. So why have I deleted so many yet come back to it? One is I don't like the ret style. I have decided to level prot and I am enjoying it. I can handle three mobs of my level or slightly higher with little problem.

So, at level 30 I am at the highest level I have ever taken a pally. So far so good.

I know you from somewhere.....

I've never been able to get into a paladin in 3 years of Wow. I have a Belf at lvl 20 now, the highest I've been.

Obviously, they have all the tools to tank and excel at it and there are somethings they can really do well that may be more difficult for other classes (IE AoE tanking)
