AOC Raiding Impressions (vs. WoW)

We completed our first raid in AOC. For those who weren't aware, a very large chunk of our guild is TankSpot folk.

Kylliki's Crypt is where we first hit. Here's your outline of the entire zone: Honorguards, Spellguards, Priests, and minions (inconsequential mobs that can be 1-shot). That was the trash. That was the only trash. Every single pull had at least one of each. There was zero variety over the course of about 15 pulls.
The trash pulls themselves were simple but required coordination. The Spellguard ports and AOEs, stay away from it. The Honorguard frequently Evade bugs and from that point on cannot be tanked (but is fine to run around and hit healers). The Priests appeared to do nothing of consequence. In these pulls, the Honorguard was decently frustrating b/c of it's extremely high rate of evading, healing to full, and dropping aggro, but it was never gamebreaking.
The bosses were far too simple. Lucifron and Magmadar were both substantially more difficult. Both took a long time to DPS down, partly because we were raiding at 2/3 of a real raid, but there weren't points where we were in real danger of dying once we locked them down. We killed both bosses in Kylliki's in two pulls.
I've been in the other two T1 raid encounters with other groups. Vistrix, an Onyxia-style encounter, is the best of them. That's where we're headed tonight.
Regardless of issues, last night was refreshing. AOC raiding has potential and is worth participating in for the experience; their raid designers have the basic concepts right in line with what I enjoy. However, having the basic concepts doesn't mean they have any idea how to execute it well. It's a new game, so time will tell.

| | I'm glad there seems to be some challenge to the raids. I was afraid they would be to plain and easy to be fun. |

| | How long did it take to kill the bosses? Just curious as I had read over on Nightmares Asylum that one of their first boss kills took 90 minutes. p_O I couldn't imagine doing CoS followed by CoS followed by CoS for 90 minutes straight. |

| | Caulle, With 18 in raid, a good chunk of whom were not level 80, it took us about 9 minutes on Champion. However, we're anticipating Vistrix will take substantially longer. |

| | That seems easy. A little too easy. I can understand the fight being not properly tuned and in turn making it easy. But when you can kill the boss with less than a full raid, and a good chunk of players not even 80? It sort of takes away any epic feel it could have. |

I agree it was too easy, but not for that reason. ![]() | |
