New Computer
A while back I ordered a new computer from Ibuypower.
My old computer needed to be replaced, it was upgraded to 1GB RAM and a 256MB video card just to handle WoW in the first place. It's processor was before dual core was even out
. I got about 15fps, and couldn't handle multi-tasking very well. I was forced to keep wow on the very lowest video options to avoid lag.
My new computer is great. Here are it's specs for anyone who's interested:
Case ( Nzxt Apollo Gaming Tower Case w/420W Power Supply Red )
Power Supply ( 600 Watt -- Power Supply SLI Ready )
Processor ( [== Quad Core ==] AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology )
Processor Cooling ( [=== Silent ===] Extreme-Performance AMD CPU Cooling Fan System Kit Silent & Overclocking Proof = Maximum cooling efficiency for quietness and performance )
Motherboard ( [SLI] Asus M2N-SLI NVIDIA nForce 560 SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, IEEE 1394, USB 2.0, Dual PCI-E MB )
Memory ( 4 GB [1 GB X4] DDR2-800 PC6400
Video Card ( NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 1GB w/DVI + TV Out Video )
Video Card Brand ( === High Performance === eVGA Brand Video Card Powered by NVIDIA )
Hard Drive ( 320 GB HARD DRIVE [Serial-ATA-II, 3Gb, 7200 RPM, 16M Cache] )
CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive (20X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive Blue )
Sound Card ( 3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard )
Speaker System ( 600W PMPO 3 PCS Super Bass Subwoofer Speaker System )
Network Card ( Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100) )
Floppy Drive ( Mitsumi 1.44 MB Internal Floppy Drive Blue )
Keyboard ( Microsoft Internet Keyboard Black )
Mouse ( Logitech Optical Internet Mouse Black )
USB 2.0 Accessories ( Build-in USB 2.0 Ports )
Flash Media Reader/Writer ( 12-In-1 Internal Flash Media Card Reader/Writer Black )
Operation System ( Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic) (64-Bit )
Additional Software ( Microsoft Works 9.0 (make the most of your home PC) )
Headset ( [Gaming Gear] Logitech Extreme PC Gaming Headset )
When I buy my next computer I'll probably research a bit deeper into parts to make sure the components have good compatatbility and performance.
As you can see this is a huge upgrade.
It arrived last Thursday, but I didn't have time to start plugging it in until Friday. I got it working and installed all the disks that came with it. Then I ran into some trouble with my internet not registering. I contacted my ISP and found out I had to restart me modem (lol). I installed WoW, vent, and all the other programs I wanted to get. Then I had to go through updating my computer and downloading new drivers/directX. (For now I don't see why everyone complains about Vista.) Seems fine to me. That lasted me a pretty long time, and when I finally logged into WoW, I set all my video settings to max and I was running 120 fps in ironforge
. With the change in the video settings, the game became so much better, before I thought WoW's graphics were ok, but now I love it. It's like I'm playing a whole different game. I respect blizzard a lot more now. So far I've run it with no troubles except for a spec of lag an arena, but we won, and my partner said he had some lag too, so it msut have been server lag. I went on http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest and tested my comp for WoW TBC and AoC and it came out as far as the meter would go past recommended
.
I'll probably upload a couple pics once I find my camera.
This is my first blog so be gentle if it's bad

| | Oh wow, grats! My comp is basically in the realm of your old one. 13fps in Shatt, drops down to 10, even down to 5 fps during MH raids. I've never played on anything better. 192 sounds like a dream... Maybe end of the year, I'll upgrade ![]() |
