I tell you, I've been stuck feeling like i'm going nowhere with my guild - seeing all the other tanks running naxx, heroic naxx and getting invites into all the raids, i was feeling pretty down and out. I'm not one to give up and throw in the towel but i will admit i was feeling a bit frusterated always being the 3rd wheel thats never needed. Whether its through my own fault or simply because i'm not real life friends with the right people, i dunno but it was wearing on me tonight..

That was until..

Out of nowhere I get an invite from a friend (a minute before i was about to log and surf the net) who wants to do the "For the Alliance" achievement and in the back of my head i'm thinking "complete disaster" but something inside me was saying "better a complete disaster instead of sitting around doing nothing" and low and behold we actually pull it off and i main tanked everything and felt great about it.

Kill Thrall was obviously the toughest of the bunch, It got to the point on the boss that my ATI 4870 couldn't keep up (or my cpu) and my framerate dropped to about 1-2fps with probably over 100 npcs running around, countless horde frogging everyone and me sticking on the boss like flies on stink. We cleared him and made a run for the door in which I died on the way out but that spirit rez was oh so worth it.

Anyway, my "tanking" esteem is back up, i've made some new friends, my fellow guildies may have seen the 6+ achievements go by and all the excitement and may give me more consideration in the future - who knows. But, I guess i'm less concerned about guild politics now since it was great to get this done and run through dalaran with my new mount, new friends list and great connections that were made.

It was great because It was a pug with people who knew their toons, knew their roles and knew the goal at hand and did everything they could to make it happen. No hand holding, no blaming each other, no complaining about this or that - it just worked and it didn't requre someone to dictate who did what and why this person needed to do that or this or you weren't good enough or any of that.

Thanks to everyone that made this Saturday a fun nite! It felt good to be a tank even if it was for a 25 man pug.

That acheivement made wow feel like a fun game for me again.. it was lacking in that regards and i'm glad i took the chance
