I've been feeling lately that this site is being flooded by the kind of mindless QQ that I so dearly hate on the WoW forums. The thread on the news forum about Blessing of Sanctuary finally caused me to write this entry. This will probably be interpreted as some kind of personal attack towards paladins but it is not. I'm just sick of seeing people with huge chips on their shoulders getting all up in arms about something that they've misinterpreted or chosen to take a different way to what was meant.

The thread about BoSanc is NOT about warriors vs paladins. The thread does NOT advocate flat out removing BoSanc. Making BoSanc self-only (and additionally changing it so it is no longer a Blessing) would mean you can cast Kings on yourself. This would be beneficial to you when soloing or raiding without another paladin.

If warriors had some buff that was absolutely required (or could be viewed to be required by most raid leaders) we would want it changed too. Nobody is picking on paladins as tanks. I want to see all tank team combinations be equally effective and not be lacking if one tank class is missing.

Look for the motivation underlying a post, thats a good way to identify a well intentioned post vs QQ.

If Elemental Shaman get the ability SuddenThunderDeathStorm - suddently a bunch of other classes start complaining that its OP. Typically Shaman would tend to downplay the new abilities power and effectiveness - they want to keep it. This makes their motivation suspect.

In this case the main beneficiary of the buff are Warriors - If only a druid or a pally had started the thread things would seem more normal. But Instead a Warrior chose to discuss the problems of the new buff and confused the hell out of many readers. It sounds like a complaint so it must be QQ without realizing that its a warrior saying this talent is so good for us we would always want to have it.

Arrivan, I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. If you read the thread, you will find that a good portion of the paladins are fine with the topic. As my own personal soapbox, lately a lot of people have been inappropriately labeling things as QQ when they really aren't. Disagreeing with something you say or think is not QQ. I think in that thread, there were like one or two people actually worried about warriors trying to snuff them out. There were a whole lot more people posting in the thread than that. What you saw mostly in the thread was plain old arguing, plain and simple. In fact there is a warrior or two that is just as bad if not worse than some of the paladins in that thread. If every time a paladin posts a concern or a disagreement it is labeled QQ, then division will eventually occur and you will start to see more QQ because that is the type of discussion such division breeds.

Good players (notice I didn't say paladins or warriors) will want what is best for the game. However, I find that people are getting too hung up over the topic and that includes both sides of the argument. When people start acting like jerks and being rude, it no longer matters if they are right or wrong and just devolves into a flame war. Luckily things have started to come back to civility though, so it should simmer down.

I find the argument centers around this concept "a guild with a prot paladin chasing after a world first, is better than a guild without a prot paladin because of BoS". BoS itself does not matter much in the majority of the cases, it doesn't matter how much rage you generated from BoS,

    -you're capped at 100 rage
-there is a 1.5 second global cooldown to use an ability
-heroic strike/cleave is on a next swing timer (1.6 secs depending on weapon speed)
-0 rage heroic strike after a revenge
-0 rage shield slam after Sword and Board
    -Diminishing returns on avoidance

in the end with or without BoS, warriors are hardly rage starved in any progression encounter where a boss hits hard.

So the reason it's coming from warriors and not paladins/druids is because the warriors who choose not to run without a protection paladin are the ones asking for the nerfs. I say nerfs because they are completely fine with the ability being removed (it has been listed as one of the options), basically as long as nobody has it they are cool with it, even though the only class who actually benefit the most from BoS is warriors.

You're most likely right now that I've calmed down a bit. I just needed to vent.

And anyone who says Sanc should be flat out removed is being selfish. I know several Prot pallies and on rare occasions spec my own pally Prot and every one of them loves Sanc, as do I because I don't have to wait for them to drink each pull. I wasn't just complaining about paladins. I apologise for seeming to lump you all into the one pile and not mention the warrior posters too.

I think it really comes into play with high avoidance situations. In easy mode kara you can boost your gear with strength and other dps/threat items and BoSanc isn't super. Once you get into an 80 duplicate of Archimonde where you're really wanting more and more avoidance (or 13 healers? :P ) it becomes a bitch. The reason why avoidance gearing sucks so much is because of streaky zero rage periods and having this buff inverts the rage gain dynamic.

I've wondered for a while if the people who don't care about the BoSanc are the ones with brass ball massive healing cores and 20% avoidance. I started out gearing all +stam but once I hit places where I needed 28000 hit points buffed (not EH) I started stacking avoidance. I WAS rage starved with the 75% + whatever from hunters/druids ect avoidance I was using. (that's taking 9k hits after armor reduction). The diminishing returns aren't going to be significant enough that keeping BoSanc won't greatly change the avoidance to EH patterns but a paradigm shift like this shouldn't be entirely based upon having a single class with a single buff in the raid or parked outside as a buffbot.
