Ok, So this is what is going on

Been a little while since I have posted here, so time for a little update.
In the time last 6 months I have been slowly losing my will to play this game, most of the guilds on my server are now making there first tetative steps into T6 content, and yet, we are still stuck at the begining of TK and SSC.
In itself, this is not a bad thing, if we can get some progress going then we should be able to get moving on and up and enjoying some new content to us. But this isn't happening. At the moment we can field a raid to karazhan pretty much at the snap of the fingers, and both Gruul and Magi are on farm with little problems. But everytime we try and field a raid to either TK or SSC those sign up's just dissapear.
It is getting frustrating now, I have seen both of these places and know the challenges that lie ahead, but I also enjoy them immensely as they are different to what we do. We have so far done a single proper run at void reaver, whilst he was bugged and not targetting for his orbs, and we spent the night wiping on him(best attempt, 22%). After that 5 weeks ago every raid for tk/ssc has been undersubscribed by around 10 players. It wouldn't bother me as much if the same was happening on all fronts for 25 man's, but the reality is, people still sign up for Gruul and Magi for the easy epics. I have considered asking to lead a raid myself, mark as wednesday and just "25 man", and see if people turn up hopin for easy, then getting dragged to something completly different.
Im at my end, and once I have my T4 chest I am seriously thinking about breaking from the game for a couple of months, as I would have acheived everything I believe that I can at this point(full t4, epic flying mount, funky title's) and after that it's just going to feel like farmig for badges, for stuff i don't really need because others cant be bothered to put the effort in on things which are more difficult.
Age of Conan is out on tuesday, and with the previews and general chatter about it here, I feel this may be a good direction to go.

| | Sorry to hear that, man. I experienced some of this back in my old guild but not to this degree and at the time, its one small part of what sent me looking for a new home. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make em drink. I would suggest making one last push and even Pugging a few spots if you have to and go kill Lurker or Solarian and show em how its done. Heh, I say that but I might just throw my hands up and step away myself. I dunno. Anyhow, good luck with whatever you decide to do. |

| | We were in the same general situation, farm raids would get amazing attendance while progression raids into SSC were often sluggishly filled - it was a rare day when we didn't bring in a handful of friends to fill the raid. |

| | The summer of '07 found us with the strength to step into the 25-mans, but not the will. In August I pushed us into an alliance which ultimately found Gruul dead. However, when we stepped over to Mag's it just didn't happen. We exited the alliance and picked up a variety of friends. It took us a few weeks to get going strong, lots of lineup fluctuations in the first month, but eventually we really got going strong and are now 3/4, 5/6, and 1/5 (well, everyone kills Rage). We have a solid core and are developing a solid "bench" (i.e. we've been asking for a few volunteers to sit out of raids to get newer people exposed). We're not setting the world on fire, but progress is being made and signups are over 30 every raid now (alternating between 2 and 3 raids a week). Perhaps something similar could work for you. Identify those folks in your guild who want to progress. Find some other friends who are in a similar situation. Join forces as a raiding association, not an alliance between guilds, and go. On progression raids we allot slots based upon need, then attendance, not guild tag (most of the time). It has not been totally without drama, but it has been minimal for the most part. After all, if your guild was willing to do things totally within house you would have been, right? |
