So I Killed A Lich..

Yesterday our guild was pretty much bored. The GM had been out for the night, gruul and mag were down. Ssc and Tk was for the most part done. Soooo I took 25 online folks, Mainly casual ranked members into Hyjal.
We initially just went in to kill trash mobs. I even made it a point to announce that it was just that, playing around with trash mobs and nobody should be getting wound up if we wipe alot or complain about a repair bill.
But whoopsie oh my Progression happened!
lol In a nutshell we killed Rage Winterchill with a few people dieing during the fight, 17 people were alive at the end, but nonetheless for not expecting to kill a boss we did quite well
I will say even with a guy with a Prot Paladin as an alt, and another person with one as his main but at school, they might of been undergeared, but with those 2 and me, it was crazy, 3 Consecrates going off was awesome. Everything was just grouped up and AOE Nuked down with only bashee's being pulled away by hunters.
Rage himself was a breeze to tank, him being undead gave a bit more options for threat but it was the strat made it really easy.
Best part of the night was right when we killed the boss, the GM came online and hopped on vent and in our channel. We felt bad for him, Resto Druid and Rage dropped Leather Healing bracers lol.
Someone had to take off so we pulled him in. We made it through the second boss trash waves just as easily, Aneth was differently a noticeable difference in difficulty, definately not insanely hard but just reading the strat over twice on vent wasn't going to do it lol.
70% was our best attempt, which considering we had people that don't raid, or get into one or two raids. Some people that just pvp all day.
I was extremely happy to even go what started out as a bunch of people screwing around for laughs and fun turned out to be alot more.
I really wanted to get people away from the SSC's and Tk's cause we grind them week in and week out, which is completely fine with me, I was used to going into MC, BwL, Ony and AQ40 every morning at 4am with an australian guild on my server. But not everyone is used to that. It was good to see new places even myself. It was all to be a huge morale boost.
It ended really being just that, I had so many tells come my way during Hyjal and after it about how much fun it was in there or how excited they were and still are about going in there. It was exactly what I hoped for and it went off without a hitch.
During the trash and boss fights I always reminded everyone "Look, remember were here to have fun first and foremost, go ahead and laugh it up in vent within common sense limits. Don't go crazy during a boss, but go ahead and chuckle and joke. Were here to play with trash, if we get bosses in front of us, even better, laugh some more
" I probley repeated something of that nature after the raid 2 times, I really hoped more than anything that they had fun more than anything.
It ended up one of the most funnest things I had ever done

It's funny how things happen. Our guild was only in Karazhan, with a few people who had seen much further progression (myself included). We decided one day after a guild meeting that we wanted to see the inside of Black Temple. So away we went... and ended up with 25 people (even though at the time, we didn't have but around 20 regulars).
We ended up with quite a few from another guild on our server that has done 25-mans, had been to SSC/TK but had kind of fell on hard times and weren't raiding as much anymore. After several wipes, they suggested going to MH where we might have more of a chance. We didn't get a boss down but for being a Kara only guild at the time, we made it thru 8 waves. One of our shammies won the roll on the fist that drops in in there. A fun time was had by all.
Fast forward about 2 months... we've now downed Gruul and Mag, have about 80 members with about 30-35 online at high time and are looking towards SSC. Many of those who pug'd with us into BT that night later joined us, and we've actually gained several from the guild that was further progressed.
Perhaps its time for another BT fun run... maybe the time after won't be for fun. /grinPosted 08-13-2008 at 11:33 AM by kainelderan
