I Fed A Troll/Remembering When

I was reminded why I really don't visit any other type of forums that have the chance of Tanking Threads....

Were not going to mention trolls, they're almost everywhere. Thankfully here at tankspot, that's something very far and few between.

The other class of folks include....
-Oldschool Thinkers (lol look bringing a warrior is the only way, nobody good seriously takes anything else.)

-Ignorant posts of things like "lol look spell power is always better"

-OMG ___ CLASS IS OP!

-The "I think we need a 10923213 dmg instant cast on 4 second cd" types of posts.

-I got 40k health unbuffed! (Oh and you also seem to be at only 520 defense, and retardedly low tanking stats in other areas.)

I ran into a thread that uh, well pretty much showcased at least one of everything above.
The thread started with "Sanctuary or Kings" as it stands in PTR, with a voting option to pick between the two. Obviously, sanct was the far winner.

Like so many threads, it started out intellegent, good posts, math and theorycraft included. However, at some point arguements started. Fanatics of one or the other started yapping. Then seemingly "Champions" of "Avoidance" and "EH" came into play. In most cases these people on their armory's and via what they were saying, obviously really didn't follow what they were preaching.
At some point another person made fun of previous poster about using a caster weapon. It then turned into a mini flamewar about what is better between the crowd preaching "tanking weapons", and the crowd preaching "caster weapons."
THEN, another person, who is obviously trolling or just too ignorant to realize he's doing so. Posted the age old PreBc thinking of...

- "Leave the tanking to big boys,the original, there's nothing better. Look mates just put sanct on the Warriors so they get more threat.",

-"Paladins arn't seriously taken to raids, they're just good with tanking trash, although DK's are taking that over now."

-"It's why we have dual spec so you can switch over after putting sanct on us, and do something useful"

-"Look at the top 50 eu/us guilds, they don't take prot paladins."

-"Prot has always been the best pvp tree."

-"We Tried taking a prot paladin who was equally geared as us to progression but they just got obliterated."

-"I love them though, they're great for naxx and heroics, it takes the stress off us."

I had a lapse in judgement and replied with much anger lol. Anyone that knows me, they'll attest that I'm someone that really never gets heated about anything.

So I said in some points...

-Since your using some PreBC thinking thar, I hope your following through with having hunters pull things for you. Oh hey btw, do you have mostly Dwarf Priests, I mean, they're originally the only cats with Fear Ward for ya. Do you ask for people to wait for 5 sunders? Wait WHOA you take some ret pallies? You mean ... you don't have ALL of them healing?
Oh yeah btw, Sanct only hands out mana on the platter now. Did you get that memo?

-Guess what bud, you scored some good AOE threat too! Oh hey btw, I also scored some great single target threat abilities too! Woahh, I've tanked everything you have it looks like. Did you know I never needed crutches like extra healers to do it, like you had insisted we needed?

-Protip: When someone switches specs, buffs go bye bye. Aka I give someone Sanct, switch to a diff spec, Sanct go bye bye. I mean since you need the mana regen on sanct so much as a warrior I guess that puts us in a situation huh?

-Top 50 guilds in most cases have had the same raiders for QUITE a long time. They carry a low amount roster of just little over what they need. A friend of someone or two, maybe some alts. Oh hey lets not forget the turnover on tanks is insanely low. Some folks from these top 50 guilds do have protection paladins, that DO raid as a core member, every night. Others have admitted that there isn't a real reason they don't take a paladin, even stating they're great classes to tank.

-Prot has not always been the best tree. Sure right now you have healers speccing into prot for some tricks to survive. However I'm sure your speaking on a DPS front. In which case sir, Reckoning was nerfed long ago.

-It sounds like your paladin tanks just don't play well. Or that your raid force has the same mentality and had already resigned him to eating it. I wonder how well I'd do if I never was allowed some facetime in a raid. I don't know man, I seem to be able to tank everything without issue..

-I'm glad you like them for tanking the smaller stuff bud. Hey you know we got a Warrior that does that too! lol Yeah the guy is great he tanks our Heroics and Naxx's for us. It leaves us big kids to do what we wanna do you know..
OH wait, it's cause he's casual and can't raid cause of real life duties. So he's not the scapegoat, he loves tanking and hey, he's a good tank, just can't raid sadly, you know I think he's probably a better tank than you are jeez..


Should I have posted? Probably not, its feeding a troll. But I "grew up" when my class was flamed all day every day on forums and in game about trying to forge out a real tanking home in a raid.
Linadillar's video I still believe said volumes for us, more than any forum post had. There were arguements of "well that's after warriors did it." Because apparently, when another class tanks something, there's this magic that makes the encounter easier after that night. It allows us to tank it, thx guys you made it possible!
No, the strats for the boss are the same, the hardwork is the same.
His video really did put the mouths to rest for the most part. "I just tanked everything the top dogs did, with no special needs because of my class."

Invisusira of Pallystolemybike.com fame. Has posted quite a few videos. Many first kills, but the real bread and butter of skill here is the extreme things. FLK and ALL the adds on her. Is this amazing? If you cram the healers on one person and nuke like mad, Nah it isn't. But just watching it makes you saw "damn!" It was shock value, shock value that worked. I loved it enough that I showed our raid leader at the time the video "Let me do that next raid." Sure enough, it was amazing and I loved it lol.
The intro to the video is pretty humorous as well. I'm sure any class could have done it, but it did help. I'm also sure Ardent Defender had a big impact that fight lol.
Even has an oldschool prebc video of tanking, which made me <3 since I was doing the same.


If you haven't seen either of their videos, give them a watch. It might seem trivial now, but at the time, it meant much more than just a tank working. It was us working when we were told we just couldn't do it.
