View Full Version : DPS In need of some Cho'Gall advice

03-26-2011, 07:25 AM
Our guild has been going at Cho'Gall for awhile now, almost a month, but we can't seem to either get the DPS right or healing right because not long after we get him to his second phase, we can't take the (sometimes second and sometimes first) round of the eye stalks.

Some of us are wondering if it's a problem on the adds, some say that the healing isn't good enough for second phase, and some say it's the group make-up.

Our current group make-up varies from night to night, but for the most part we're still the same group of players who have been playing together since Naxx or even before then.

Our World of Logs:
We're basically everything before the 17th of this month and Group 1 from the 17th.

Can we get some suggestions, please?

Some pointers:
How high are people stacking Corrupted Blood before the final phase? (protip: they shouldn't have any stacks)
Are you reliably killing adherents before fester blood?
Are people interrupting the tentacles? They reduce your outgoing damage and incoming healing by 75% as long as they can channel freely.
Are you assigning tentacle spawn areas to groups of dps (melee go on tentacles near the boss, range go on those that are further away)

There are several logs i just will lock into your latest one:

19 crashes over 10 wipes. Are you even trying to avoid them at all? There might be one crash that accidently hit one person per try, not everyone eating them like sweets :)

14 Depravity over 10 wipes. You have to interrupt them. Missing one might happen once in a while but it shouldn't be something that happens frequently.

Don't stand in the puddles after the Adherents dies, just don't.

Tip of the day: Don't stand in the fire.

How do you handle worship? I'd recommend having one person doing this primarly. Eg your mage stand 1y behind the camp and using Dragon's Breath and if he's controlled having your Warlock being backup with Shadowfury. Backup for the backup: Priest with Fear. This frees up everyone else to maximise their dps unless you spread out when the add is summoned. Then it's everyones duty to interrupt ASAP (have your rogue kicking the add so your paladin is free to use his shield on range).

You already seem to handle the blobs quite well, they almost never reach you. That's pretty good and something you can work with.

Everyone should come to the tentacle rape party and kill them ASAP, this reduces incoming dps and increases outgoing dps (as Pyrea explained it before) greatly.

Just a small addition to that advice... Have your tanks move Cho'gall on top of the eye-stalks... That way he gets nuked down faster by splash damage and its easier for melee since less run-time = more DPS...
Pro-tip: a warrior tank can interrupt a handful of beams with proper placement and Shockwave:)

From what I've read: Avoid Avoidable damage. Your raid is likely having an issue with this which explains the issues with getting him down. If you eat damage, your healers can't keep you up.
