Hi everyone. Ive recently been having a dispute with my guild about this encounter. All the officers and healers are saying we can not do this boss cause its a gear check. I strongly believe we can do it. But we wiped a couple times and they just seem to give up right now. We have a pally healer who says its impossbile to keep our off tank up. Can someone please let know any advise you can give me and let me know if it really is a gear check and if my guild is able to down him. We have already downed 10/12 and chogall is a cake walk for us.

This is me the main tank (if im wearing fury gear my bad ill change it when I get home my tank gear is 357 pve eqiup with teir)

This is out ot he has 355 ilvl for pve tank gear again sorry hes no equiped but out pally healer sayinh its impossible to keep him up

This is our pally tank who keeps saying we cant do it saying werw not geared enough

We also have dps but were were all 12k to 16k and our other healers have been able to keep us all up.

As for the adds in phase one we have our fury warrior kite them with his shield and our hunter slow them but he still dies here and there. Is there any advise you can give us? I know its asking alot but ill be really greatful if someone can answer all these questions I have. Were a new guild but rlfs and I strongly believe we can do it. Thankyou all for reading this and helping. Ill go home asap to get my correct gear on my warrior tank. Thanks again

You're almost full epic, what does your healers expect you to wear? Your DK is wearing pvp gear so i can't say much about him.. what he's tanking, nef or ony? Our DK tanked Nef in half blues and took 35k hits average over the encounter without the hassle of Onyxia's tail lash so unless he's taking way more you should rethink about your positioning and not your gear.

I just had the dk switch his thing on armory so is he under geared for nef? umm for onyxias tail lash sometimes its like RNG or something cause occasionally when she does her lightening ability she also does the tail lash and hits the raid. :/

If Cho'Gall was a cakewalk, then Nef is far from impossible. It's definitely a step up in terms of difficulty, but not as big as they're making it out to be.

right now one of our problems is when oni does her eletric thing and we flip her she deos tail wipe and someones nef does her crackle and its like rng or something her tailwipe keeps going off and when we try to wait for the tail wipe the eletric shock goes off

There should only be one person in Onyxia's tail range when crackle occurs and that should be your holy paladin (assigned to the ony tank) with the right glyph (http://www.wowhead.com/item=41096).

Crackle occurs exactly when you want it to occur and having some (1-2) tail lashs combined electric shock (hitting nobody) shouldn't kill anyone. You pop a CD for crackle as he's doing as well.

DK's gear isn't that great in comparison to paladin/your's and he doesn't wear 355 ilvl tanking stuff.. Reputation boot's (dragonmaw or boe (http://www.wowhead.com/item=58197) if this takes to long) and reputation cloak (hyjal or the boe ones 1 (http://www.wowhead.com/item=59466) & 2 (http://www.wowhead.com/item=67142) if this takes to long) will be two decent upgrades. But no reason to worry to much, this fight is about proper execution/positioning and not about wearing full epics.

Cho'gall is harder on the tank healing than Nef. If the issue is healing through crackles, then I can tell you it's just a matter of learning how to time and prepare for them. Ony's tail lash has a huge range but you can avoid it while you're dpsing Nef, and after a bit of practice it stops becoming an issue. Also, don't push him into crackle when Ony is turned with her tail to the raid.

Nef is certainly the hardest fight in this tier of normals and if you can get every other boss, Nef should definitely not be impossible. I know you said you're 10/12, so I'm assuming you're missing Al'Akir, but that shouldn't change anything.
