View Full Version : Healing Resto Shaman HPS through put and Resto Shaman raid assignments

I have a Resto Shaman in my healing corps that is a very knowledgeable and dedicated player. However, we can't seem to get his HPS up there where we'd like to see it. I realize the class isn't designed to top the meters, but I just feel like we're missing something.

For the most part, I have him assigned to the melee and back up on tanks. This may be the issue in and of itself.

Is WoL bugging out, or is he not using Earth Shield at all? The fact that he took 2/3 in Nature's Blessing leads me to believe the latter is true.

Well...he's got a lot of spirit, that's for sure.

I have...significantly less, and while I run out of mana tricks after about 9 or 9.5 minutes, that's generally about as long as a fight will last. I can't see needing 2500 spirit before Jar stacks (and heartsong...jesus).

Of those logs, I looked mostly at cho'gall, since that's one I've actually completed (though I suppose your nef link is a wipe too) and is pretty healing-intensive (some of these it just looks like you have too many healers and he's just got nothing to do...halfus, frex). He cast one Earth Shield, he had sub-50% uptime on Riptide, he never Unleashed Life at all...he seems to have cast a lot of Chain Heals, which I suppose is probably just what you do in 25 mans with all the warm bodies you have apt to be piled up on each other.

His spec lacking the final point in Acuity and Nature's Blessing makes me kind of sad, especially since he has telluric currents instead of them (with his spirit he should never oom...especially since he seems to be getting innervates too (for some reason))...but I guess if you're not casting Earth Shield...

It does seem slightly weird that he never dispelled anyone either...do you not do bad things to people to interrupt worship? It's a pretty cheap heal and it is getting people back in the fight faster...

Checking the other logs basically confirms (no earth shields AT ALL on halfus (wtf?), 3...sort of (20 procs...meaning he had to have put up 3, but one only got 2/9 charges used), on nef, better riptide uptime on those two, but it seems like the longer the fight goes, the less he casts it).

I don't like his spec I'd spec something like http://www.wowhead.com/talent#hhZbhMZcGbMsdfoGo:dbs0cmzMc with NS and Blessing of the Eternals being optional (telluric currents, ancestral resolve, and even focused insight being options) and the water shield glyph being optional for him too since he'll have over 3000 spirit with the Jar up (he could use the Earthliving glyph instead).

He should cast more Riptides and make sure Earth Shield is always up on someone...since he seems to be your only resto shaman, I can't imagine why it's not always up on the the MT. Unleashing is a moderate heal, but it can be cast on the move and it is a nice buff to the next direct heal you cast...there's no reason to not use it, either.

He should also consider dropping about 500 spirit and getting some more throughput stats...especially with the Jar...

Earthshield... Tell him to work on keeping 3 riptides up or try using it at all. More healing rain.
