Any pre-raid tanking upgrades I'm missing on this list?

Hi all,

Just thought I'd check in quickly with my next step plans and see if there's anything I'm missing off my list. Very much enjoying tanking, just trying to get decent gear before joining some Pug raids. I want to get pretty much the best stuff possible, as I feel horribly guilty about pulling my weight (unlike 80% of other players :p).

I'm aiming to crack the 5k GS mark as this seems to be the arbitrary minimum to join random pugs on my server.

Planned upgrades:

I'm a bit cash strapped atm, so unlikely to want to buy Pillars, crafted boots.

Any glaring ommissions here, or do you reckon that will do me?

As a sidebar, I actually picked up the T10 gloves from VoA last night. Is it worth breaking the two set T9 bonus to equip them? I'll probably wear them whilst in queue (once again for shameless GS boosting, as GS is srsbsns) but is it worth it whilst tanking stuff?

T10 gloves are very good, lots of sexy armor. The T9 bonus is a small boost to threat but largely unimportant.

I'm a little confused by your wording, but Ick's is not something you should wear for serious raiding. It's ok to use it for your Gearscore set though :-P

Spiked Deathdealers are superior to Black Spire Sabatons because of the sockets for more stam, but I can understand wanting to skip them if you're strapped for cash like you say you are.

Gear looks solid except for that helm gem, no stam = no good.

And your spec looks solid too. Lose the Cleaving glyph once you're confident in your AoE threat and want to start min/maxing for raids (I would spec and glyph Shield Wall once that occurs, take two points from Shield Spec for that).

The gear you list all look like good decisions. Look like you know what you're doing, keep it up and good luck getting into pugs!

After a bad day at work and a total waste of an ICC lockout, I did a bit of retail therapy and bought myself some boots of kingly upheaval and the triumph badge trinket.

Just tipped over the 5k GS mark, thereby instantly making me good enough to tank for PUGs. Im now utterly broke though, so I think I'll trade down badges for the conq belt and convince a couple of mates to farm HoR normal for shield.

On the helm gem: I needed to activate the meta somewhere, and at least the head has a decent stam bonus, so what they hey.

I think I'll grab a 2nd prot spec for my dual glyphed/talented for single target fights as well, as I dont really intend on DPSing with this character at all.
