Hey guys. I played a prot spec warrior a very long time. I recently came back to wow and boy have things changed. I respecced to fury and I have a couple of questions.

First of all, do warriors still roll on leather and mail? I remember some warriors swore that it was okay to do back in Vanilla. I've also did some searches and found that some people swaer by it, but the articles/threads are old. Just wondering if this is stil a smart thing to do?

And also at my current level (76) I'm pullng about 1.2k dps in all dungeon and quest gear. I know this isnt great but I seem to stay within 300dps (above or below) the other dps classes. I was just wondering if this is on par or if I should be doing more?

on a site note Ive watched and read all the fury warrior guides here and they have helped my rotation a lot.

Normally you only roll on plate but some of the BiS items are leather. I think your dps is okay for your lvl but i would not pay much attention to that since you are not 80 and not gearing and raiding yet. Just get lvl 80 as quick as possible and start farming triumph emblems for the t9 items.

At your gearing level I would think that the plate will likely get you the biggest dps increase. Once you get above iLvL 200 gear, I would start looking into the gearing guides/stat values and gear accordingly.

Short term: Yes, some leather pieces like http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50333 are still very good for Fury warriors. The agility Ashen Verdict ring is marginally better. If you're over hit cap http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50995 (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50670) is better than the plate badge belt, for example.

However, there are changes to the item system coming down the pipe with Cataclysm which supposedly is going to make non-plate worthless. Check this out: http://www.mmo-champion.com/news-2/cataclysm-stat-system-changes/

Also, in general I would be careful about rolling on leather over feral/rogue guildies. Make sure you work things out with them beforehand, because not a lot of non-fury warriors understand why these leather items are BiS...

Personally, my guild doesn't support me rolling on leather gear until it falls to alt/offspec rolls. Doesn't really make much sense to me but I'm not going to argue the point. The leather bracers are really the only ICC25 piece that matters and I'm not going to sweat it.

Fury warriors were stacking leather gear because rogue stuff has a lot of agi. The agility converted to insane crit ratings on warriors however, and meant warriors could get stupidly high crit, far beyond what they were intended to have.

This was fixed in an update which (iirc) meant warriors got crit from the strength (which was minimal) rather than the agility.

Myself, I prefer to take the attitude that some gear is "meant for me". DPS Plate is for warrior, pally, dk. Leather is for rogues and druids. Mail is for shamans and hunters. While I wouldn't necessarily pass up a good DPS mail piece I would certainly never roll against the class it was clearly "made for".

If Blizzard is going to be lazy and not make sure that there is a plate item that is truely BiS - why should I gimp my DPS and only focus on plate? Not that I'm at that point ;-) (hopefully sooner rather than later though).
