Hello, I am having a little trouble deciding with which gem to activate my meta, 10 agi vs. 10 dodge. 22 armor and a negligible amount of dodge versus 10 dodge rating. It feels like nitpicking, but I thought I'd ask.

For tanking? Don't you only need one purple? Expertise/stam maybe?

Yes; it would be my only purple. Don't particularly need the expertise, I was just looking at the two options I have for survivability (agi or dodge).

Neither are going to amount to anymore survivability, you are better off with the threat as most gear upgrades in ICC have no expertise.

I'd actually go with Agi/stam, like people have said, it's one gem slot and it is an extremely marginal survivability increase, but the 22 armor (after kings) from 10 agi is about 2 stam, so I view 10agi/15stam is like a 7dodge/17stam gem, although that's for warriors, for pallies the conversion is much higher so agi is > dodge, same for druids. DK I think is the same conversion as warriors, but don't know. Anyways, if threat doesn't matter, then I think 10agi/15 stam gives the most survivability, but it is EXTREMELY marginal, and no one is going to laugh at you for picking 10dodge/15 stam over 10agi/15 stam

Exp/stam is my choice, but I miss the good times when Jewelcrafters could just ignore socket colors...

Thanks for the replies.

I checked the calculations and here is the final comparison:

22 armor and .118 % dodge (agility gem) versus .221 % dodge (dodge gem)

or simply

22 armor vs. .103 % dodge

edit: so what I'm asking is, is 22 armor better than .103 % dodge. I have one vote for 22 armor so far.

Well, being that you are ignoring expertise as an option, the armor will always be better than the dodge if gearing for EH.

Is this before or after DR?

Before. I have 466 rating without the dodge gem (currently have an agi gem socketed), and 582 defense rating.

Ahh, I see I thought the numbers were a little high.

As a bonus you get a little bit of crit out of the Agi gem around 0.16% from the 10 Agi. Its not much but it is worth counting for imo ;)
I run with Agi/sta gem in my set up and have not had any problems with it yet..
