Neverending winter(264) Vs. Icecrown Glacial Wall(264)

Hi! Long time reader, first time poster, gotten tons of help through out the years thanks to you.

Been looking for a thread touching this subject but havnt found any, if it exists please link below :)

On to the matter at hand. Last week I got my hands on Icecrown Glacial Wall (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50065) and I was happy as a kid, great stats and awsome looks made me think "fantastic this shield will last me until I get the 277 version". But last night during ICC10 HC the Gunship event dropped Neverending Winter (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=51909). The gains and loss of the two is minimal and breaks down to Compare shields (http://www.wowhead.com/?compare=51909;50065), based only on stats which one is the better one?

I prefer Icecrown Glacial Wall (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50065) since im more a BV fan than a Block% fan. (And yea, looks are great :cool: ) But im constantly swapping and hanvt been able to make up my mind on my own, so I turn you to Tankspot experts, thank you in advance, Kalìx

Icecrown Glacial Wall will net you more threat (Block Value) and that's about it. Neverending Winter gives more mitigation (Block Rating) and more stamina via the socket. They have nearly the same avoidance values, so that's not a big deal.

Personally I feel the Glacial Wall is inferior to the 264 version of Neverending Winter.

I would just end up repeating Guth, personally in my eyes 10man HM shield is more realistic to obtain because there are four of us after a new shield, the queen drops one item and two tokens a week and not a single shield yet, however we can easily run a few 10man HM groups and that shield has already dropped for one of the four tanks.

hello there, for more suvival fights i would prefer to use 10m heroic shield, but for more tps glacial wall is great, its kind of repeating the same stuff, but i'd use the glacial wall :) (it looks cooler and they are almost identical)

Neverending Winter has less stamina by default, which brings the difference down to +24sta with Solid Majestic Zircon. Still, it beats IGW any time of the day and twice on tuesday. I can't figure out the logic behind socket colors, for the most part you've had good pieces with "wrong" color sockets to bring them more in line with other alternatives but here you have the best 264 shield with perfect socket (blue and +sta).

I'm using and prefer Neverending Winter. It's a bit more survival and EH. IGW is probably around 50 DPS/150 TPS higher, but probably not worth the sacrifice in primary tanking stats.

Neverending winter heroic > icecrown glacial wall in terms of EH, wish it actually dropped though. Icecrown glacial wall = prot pvp's dream shield.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't block value for threat capped at a certain number? Like shield slam only uses up to 2k block value or something like that? If you're tanking hardmodes and icc 25, threat should hardly be an issue, so the HM Neverending Winter for sure.

But I will sacrifice a shard for the better look of the Queen shield once other shield users have gotten a 264 shield.
