Can anyone tell me how good Last Word is as a warrior tank. The other tank in my guild wants it pretty bad so it would cost me some DKP to pick it up and try for my self so I was hoping someone would have some insight on it or a link to a thread i couldn't find talking about it.

Also, would the PVP (i270 wrathful) be a vaild option for PVE tanking? With high armor and Stam it would sound like the best EH shield to run with. And the 121 resil would make up for some of the Defense loss since we're looking at gear without def on it in this tier. Thoughts?

you're going about it all wrong, resilience does nothing for you if you're already over the crit cap and its pretty hard not to be, so that would be useless. Last word IMO is extremely shitty i still prefer the 10 man togc sword over most of what available now, so my advice to you would be let him blow his load on that mace and go after the shield first or something prettier.

I'm not sure about Last Word, but as I recall the PvP shield has virtually no stats on it except EH. That doesn't necessarily bode well. I believe I read that the ToGC25 shield is better on account of the other stats it has. I believe Stam Czar will be able to shed some light on it if I am incorrect though.

The pvp shield is very very good because of the massive amounts of EH on it, I am not sure of the exact numbers but I think in Burst Time to Live Koijyama or Kaze said it was the best option unless you have the ToGC 25 or ICC 25 shield.

I use it... 600 more armor and 61 more stam over the 10 man gunship shield? hell yes.

^ This.

Edit: DAMN, I just realized how much better the S8 shield is than I previously thought, over 9k armor and 181 stam... the other shields don't even come close. It's almost 200 armor and 21 stam more than the ICC25 normal shield.

I have the ToGC25 shield, and i'm the set up to get the first ICC25 shield when it drops. Would you guys say the PVP shield is a better option then these two. I'm still looking at the stam and armor primarily, so its stam and armor vs SBV and parry. Seems like the EH wins out, since EH is king over RNG and all.

Comparison between the two.

45 Stamina (52), 178 (196) Armor vs. 90 (104) Strength, 142 (252) Block Value, 48 Defense/Parry ratings.
Personally I prefer the ICC shield, but if your primary focus is EH instead of balance, the PvP shield is ideal.

So how much rating do you need for this?

1800 I think.

I'm actually kinda thinking that 45 more stam and almost 200 more armor might be worth it over the ICC25 shield, probably not the heroic version, but the 264 version... like... I'm not one for using PvP gear in PvE but... DAMN.

yeah, it's a bit more of a tough choice if you have the ICC 25 shield, but i was using the ICC 10 shield, which was a sidegrade from my TOGC 10 shield. (more armor, less stam). going from the ICC 10 shield to this was just massive for me, 600 armor and 61 stamina, just flat out pwns the crap out of a small amount of defense and parry, and sbr.

sure the resil is crap, and losing all that str is rough, but the survivability gains are pretty massive.

The same can be said for just about any pvp piece. I just picked up the pvp boots (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=51363) from toravon. Compare this to the crafted boots (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49907), it's not a huge gap and allows you to spend your frost/saronite elsewhere until you get back to it.

I would personally ingore the crafted ones altogether and have only dreamwalker 25 boots in my sight.

The crafted boots seem better for tanks (like me) who raid almost exclusively in 10 man content, as they are a nice upgrade over the other options.

It's a nice thought but truth be told you may never see them drop.

Is it still easy to rofl that rating after the "nerfs" as prot?

you can rofl them as Arms probably easier if you have decent PVE dps gear and a good healer.

I regularly break 1800 every season normally into the 2k range, so I dunno if my level of "rofl easy" is the same as anyone else.

I run shaman/protwar/hunter right now and we got to 1800 in 2 weeks of effort (really only 3 days of play time).

I haven't really done much arena tbh this expansion, didn't do much last expansion either. But I have collected a set of Deadly/Hateful and some Relentless gear, rings, trinkets, etc. A little over 700 resil, with the 10 ony dps helm for now and the Citadel Enforcer's claymore..I'll give it a shot.

your best bet though is to run in 5s, so many compostions work in 5v5s, just get a healer or two, some dps, and go queue up, and hopefully you wint enough games to get to 1800 =P
