one thing right off the bat that holds true for all tanks, dont gem for parry, or full avoidance gems at all.

this is a list of expected avoidance VS avoidance after diminishing returns provided by Satrina here (http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f63/40003-diminishing-returns-avoidance.html)

as you can see, parry suffers very heavily on diminishing returns.
If you need a red gem for your meta, use a dodge/stam gem only if the socket bonus will make up 90% of the stam loss. i personally would use a nightmare tear as it gives 10 stam, 10 agi, 20 armor, 10 intel, yeah. you get it.

as for you spec, i dont play a paladin so i cant say much other then get seal of command, most mobs in ICC are undead so any holy damage you can do will increase your threat by a good amount

Your spec is missing Vindication, which is a key damage reduction talent. Take two points out of Conviction to do that. I'd also recommend switching out either glyph of Salvation or HotR for the SoV glyph, as 10 expertise, even if you're over the expertise soft cap from gear alone, is a lot of threat.

Your gear is mostly very good, just a few things - first, dodge and agility are both better options than parry rating. Second, the onyxia trinket should be saved for an avoidance or block set, it's very weak for MT (on almost all raid bosses). Replace it with a stamina trinket or Glyph of Indomitability if you have it.

But all in all you're looking good, especially for someone who claims to be noobish.

edit: the previous poster is right about parry being inferior, but he is incorrect about Seal of Command

it's only superior to SoV on trash fights where the mobs last less than 8 seconds or so (in other words, it's only good for heroics and gimmick fights like Thorim arena - not worth the point)

ok these are very helpful and i noticed 2% crit is not even worth it. as for parry gems easy enough to replace. as far as trinkets go i have a few in bank and can also get badges easy now and have nothing to buy with them. so what would best trinkets be for mt in icc? and not able to farm togc

For the first boss, the most dangerous part is his cleave which cannot be dodged blocked or parried - so go for stamina or armor.

The second boss, the most dangerous part is the magic damage, so you'll want to stack stamina.

The third "boss", if you're tanking the boarding party or whatever it's called, avoidance and mitigation are nice but I don't know if it would be worth using the Onyxia trink or not. I'd probably run with Satrina's + Glyph.

And the fourth boss, from what I understand almost all the damage is physical, so armor is a good idea. Again I'm not so sure about avoidance, I haven't done much more research than reading the Tankspot guides.

so this is the new questions.....if mt 4th boss in icc am going for more avoidence or more stam?
