View Full Version : New Bear tank needs advice

I've been 80 for quite some time now, but just recently respecced to Feral. I know my gear lacks atm, but i've been workin on it. Self buffed, i'm currently sittin at 29.5k health, 27.7k armor 35% dodge 40% crit and 4667 AP. Most of my gear consists of the epics from ToC normal, which is mostly dps i'd imagine. What are the stats i should focus on, and in what order. I know, i need to change my idol (still workin on triumph badges for idol) =p
Here's my spec, and you can find my gear here (Balagar, Argent Dawn): WoW Heroes - World of Warcraft PvE character info & ratings (http://www.wow-heroes.com/index.php)
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGGsfbzceRcczAkbE0z)
Thanks in advance for any help/advice/criticism :)

Post your armory logged out in bear form, until you do I can only comment on spec:
No Primal precision, take 2 from furor and move them there, there is no point to have 5/5 furor since the ulduar patch.
I personally hate shredding attacks in bear specs but if you go cat enough I guess it is ok. I would take those 2 points and either infected wounds or imp mangle and get master shapeshifter. Because if you need to put up infected wounds chances are you are doing demo as well and should really have 5/5 feral aggression instead of ferocity.
Cannot really help you without know what content you are tanking, are you tanking 5 mans, 10 man normals, 10 heroics, 25 normals?
DO NOT GET THE TRIUMPH IDOL. It is worse than the one from ulduar, Idol of the Corruptor - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45509) which you can get with conquest badges.

Helm - PVP Helm, Wrong Enchant.
Neck - DPS Necklace, Tank on from Conquest Badges
Shoulders - Not Enchanted
Chest - Easily upgradable with conquest or triumph badges
Bracer - PVP bracer
Belt - PVP Belt, Gem could be upgraded, No belt Buckle
Legs - No Leg Enchant
Rings - Both Rings are DPS rings
Staff - Wrong enchant, use Mongoose
Red / Blue gems - Shifting / Solid.
Yellow can do a few different things with or just use a Solid Gem.
Expertise and Hit are low, largely due to the amount of pvp gear you are using.
Glyph of Berserk should be Maul or Growl.
Two points in improved Mangle does not help you, remove them and stick them .. I guess in Ferocity,
Your main issues are you are using a lot of pvp gear, next to nothing you have is enchanted and as a result of those you are lacking in threat stats and stamina.

Logged out in bear form, altered spec, and picked up the conqueror idol
As far as content, guild is only gearing mains right now, and my Mage is my main. 5 mans i can do no prob, with a little bit of threat issues now and then. Multi tanking is my bane at the moment. As for raiding, i haven't had a chance to get into one yet, but starting out in Naxx i should be ok
Ya, i do have some pvp gear, but i got what I could get with what i had available. When i switched to Feral, i had absolutely nothing. I was Balance/Resto for a while now
So, hit, crit strike, AP, expertise, str/agil/stam?

2/3 imp mangle and 1/3 infected wounds are a waste, kind of misunderstood what I said there.
Now that I know what you are doing I suggest this spec Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGGscrzceRc0zAkbAczb)
I'm not feral, I'm a Bear: Darksend's Weekly Tip: Are you gemmed and enchanted properly? (http://mother-bear.blogspot.com/2009/03/darksends-weekly-tip-are-you-gemmed-and.html) use that chart for gemming and enchanting
You are right in that you have a lot of dps gear but that should be fine for naxx, just not much more.
