Unholy DPS - Can't break the seal

My girlfriend and I both started DK's to try out the world of melee. I went the tank route and her the DPS. Since then, I reverted back to my druid main and although she has leveled her hunter main, she prefers the little face-bashing gnome DK.

The guild we are in is starting to do 25 TotGC and preparing for ICC. So, everyone has to step it up a bit in the guild. Her issue currently is being unable to consistently stay over 5k dps, even on stand still face-roll boss fights. In our 25 mans, she sits somewhere around 10th to 15th on the damage done and dps meters. (Not here to start a convo on what meters truly show or don't. Just saying, when everyone in the guild is doing more damage it tends to lead towards not getting invites and people throwing up the wtf flag.)

She truly wants to stay Unholy and is looking for any advice on spec, glyph's, stats and rotation. The primary spec she has is her usual one, the secondary is a week old spec she has been trying out.

I help where I can, but my knowledge of Unholy is highly limited and I can barely pull DPS when I need to anyway on my DK. lol. I am just not quite sure what priorities Unholy has in the rotation and would love to see her doing her max, as would she.

Currently, the spec i'm using for unholy does not have reaping nor epidemic, and the rotation is it-ps-bs-ss-bs, with dumps whenever i'm near the rp cap or with free gcds. The glyphs are Dark Death, Ghoul and Icy Touch

Gearing is rather simple: As usual, Hit cap is important, as is expertise soft cap, then strength above just about all stats. The complete chart is in the elitist jerks unholy thread.


They also give 4 different specs, two for DW and two for 2handers, alternating blood and unholy presences.

For short AOEs(read: ghouls on H CoS for ulduar-geared people), you'll hardly have time to do much, so just d&d-ps-pest should be a good way to go. Otherwise it's it-ps-pest-d&d. There's not much time to bloodboil...usually every other rotation or when you burn ERW/BT.

The unholy guide here isnt updated to the latest patch where the ScS glyph no longer refreshes the disseases but instead extends them.

I do a around 5k in 25 mans (although I dont do 25 mans often enough to call it consistent) and my gear is no where near as good as what you linked. There is ofc a fairly big difference if we are talking multiple mobs or not when it comes to unholy but I think >5k on a single target boss shouldnt be a big problem with her gear either.
