Hi all, I have a few questions regarding gearing. The original post got kinda long so
TLDR:
Armory - 30khp 50% avoidance (via macro) (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Arthas&n=Mulcifer)
I PUG everything. What gear slots should I upgrade before tanking 10mans? How should my gems change? I see nobody cares about bonuses and sockets 30stam, but is that the norm for just 10mans?
I'll have the Conq helm tonight for 2pc.
Are the normal ToC legs better for avoidance/threat than my current legs?
My friend says skip the Triumph ring and get t9 shoulders/helm - is that right?
The trinkets I have are Black Heart; Lavanthor's; Beerfest Dodge & Gossamers

Thanks for any advice!

I used to raid back in classic on a lock, but DPS is sooooo boring that I skipped [raiding] BC altogether. I levelled my prot war for Wrath and I've been tanking Heroics (~600 badges) and having a blast, but I'd really like to start doing 10mans.

Anyway I seriously love block atm. I can pull nonstop without my healer going below 80% and I've tanked bosses 100-0 w/o heals (X hits you for 7 (6350 blocked). But I'm learning block isn't a desired stat for raiding, but those statements usually come from tanks doing hardmodes - is that relevant for 10mans?

I PUG everything since my physical location/time zone/day job prevent me from joining a raiding guild. A server xfer is out because of RL friends on my server.

I'm confused what items I should change/replace first for tanking 10mans. I'll venture a guess that my stam is low, but replacing all my gems with +30sta only nets me around 2k more hp.

My first impression is that you're already basically ready for ten man content, aside from Ulduar and ToC hard modes. You should finish off your professions to get the bonuses from those, obviously. While EH is king for progression at the moment, block isn't a -terrible- stat to have, and you can always swap the gossamer in for Lavanthor's if you need the boost for some fights.

T9.0 legs versus the Wyrmguard is actually an interesting study. You should gain some DPS and threat from the +hit and higher SBV, but lose some mitigation by the loss of SBR. I'm not sure I'd be desperate to spend badges there, if I were you.

2pc T8.5 plus 2pc T9 actually results in a good boost to Devastate. Since it's still your "filler" attack, you will want to get this combo together somehow, so I wouldn't suggest going for the T9 helm early on. Shoulders are going to be a good piece, though, along with gloves. Those have the added advantage of being the cheapest pieces of the 9.0 tier set, so you can get 'em quick. And yeah, do that before the ring, since it carries a set bonus along with stat upgrades. Don't neglect the badge ring forever, though - it's a solid piece in its own right.

You don't really -have- to regem for pure stam at the moment, but even if you're too poor to replace your current gems with epics, remember to use them in all of your new equipment. A bit here and a bit there actually adds up to real gains pretty quickly in the realm of stamina.

Lastly, if money isn't an object, you might look into some of the Ulduar and ToC crafted tanking pieces. Breastplate of the White Knight (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=67130), Saronite Swordbreakers (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=67131), Indestructible Plate Girdle (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=63191), and Spiked Deathdealers (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=63192) would all serve you quite well, as long as you keep your upgrade path in mind. That T8 set bonus is going to break eventually, after all.

Good luck in your pugs.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll go for the t9 2pc asap and regem my newer stuff with epic gems.
