View Full Version : Advise Me!

Hi all-

Just looking for some advice on my Blood Dk tank. Keep in mind, I am new to tanking, but I am really having trouble holding aggro, especially on larger groups of mobs. Even on single target however, I have a tendancy to lose aggro to melee dps especially, and this is just in heroics. I don't even want to try tank a raid with the aggro issues I am having (can just imagine the boss running and destroying the clothies....). I'm curious if its my spec, or my rotation, or what. Any advice would be appreciated!

generally flexible, but the basics of it-
DnD, icy touch, plague strike, blood boil, heart strike, and whenever it procs, rune strike.

Spec and gear/glyphs here-

Main thing I can see is you're missing 5/5 Blood Gorged. 10% Armor Penetration is a significant signle target threat boost, and multitarget w/ Heart Strike. You can give up 3/3 Virulence for it (Blood is the least dependent on spell hit, and mobs don't dispel your diseases), and either 2/3 Ravenous Dead or 2/3 Morbidity. Here's your spec modified for that (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jcEMVh0Isb0fssxhxZ0gh:Gop0Mm), w/ 3 extra points you can experiment with in either Morbidity or RD.

Also, you should never be manually casting Rune Strike, that should be macro'd into all your offensive abilities so it procs instantly anytime it's up. The macro looks like this:

#showtooltip [mod:ctrl] some ability;[mod:alt] some ability;[mod:shift] some ability; Heart Strike
/use !Rune Strike
/use [mod:ctrl] some ability;[mod:alt] some ability;[mod:shift] some ability; Heart Strike
The ! in front of Rune Strike instructs the game to only cast Rune Strike if has not yet been cast. If you don't put it there, the macro will queue RS the first time, then dequeue it again the next time you use it, b/f RS is able to cast. With the !, using your macro once queues RS, using it again does not dequeue it, it will cast on your next autoattack, then using the macro again after the next RS proc will queue it again.

And don't forget to use Pestilence to spread diseases on multiple targets. You left that out of your rotation, but assume that was just an oversight.

It also appears you spent 35 triumph emblems on a ring, instead of 30 Triumph emblems on a massive shoulder upgrade. Your current shoulders are blue ilvl200 H 5man, but 30 Triumph emblems could have got you epic ilvl232 Tier 9.1 Koltira Pauldrons of Conquest (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=48562).

Make sure familiarize yourself with the Tier 9 vendors out at Argent Tournament. There are 3 levels - 9.1, 9.3, and 9.5. Tier 9.1 can be had with just Triumph emblems from farming the reg H daily + VoA. 30 days of just the reg H daily will get you 60 Triumph emblems, which you can use to buy both the 9.1 shoulders and hands, giving you a 2pc set bonus (http://www.wowhead.com/?itemset=874) that will help with threat.
