Hello all. I've been a lurker here for several months, and I'm hoping to get a little advice on my gems and enchants.

First of all, my armory : The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Anvilmar&cn=Musclebndfrk&gn=Friends+With+Benefits)

This is my all around "best", highest ilvl tanking suit. For certain fights I switch the essence of gossamer out for Valor Medal of the First War - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40683) if i feel i need some extra avoidance. I've never seen the point in swapping items for threat, with the expertise and hit I'm carrying right now I almost never have aggro problems.

I'm mostly concerned with my gems. I have several green defense/stamina gems in order to either get socket bonuses, or from re-gemming to stay uncrittable after replacing a high defense item. But with all the emblems of conquest dropping I don't see that happening again any time soon. Is it worth dropping these gems for something with more straight up avoidance or stamina, even if I lose some of the socket bonuses?

You may also notice that I'm missing a minor glyph and an enchant on my new weapon. That's because I can't decide what to put there! Any advice in those areas would be appreciated as well :)

Right, let's see.

My suggestion would be to keep the gems (perhaps reconsider your legs mind you, 9 stamina bonus is decent) and to reenchant for more health. I suggest you swap your cloak enchant to defence, then enchant your chest with 275hp. Grind a bit of honour and grab the 30 stam shoulder enchant from PVP. I would also put 40 stam on those bracers. I know you're hurting for expertise a bit, but its a vastly superior enchant. In future, I'd consider hard before putting a non-blue gem into a socket that doesn't have a decent stamina bonus.

Your last question, on minor glyphs, I suggest you have two options. Either Glyph of Command (improves the duration of Commanding Shout) or Glyph of Thunderclap (bigger AoE on your biggest AoE threat move). Personally I'd probably take both and then drop Glyph of Charge, but its a personal choice.

Hope that helps a little.

- Consider replacing your cloak with Saronite Animus Cloak - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=46014) if you can get it out of 10m Ulduar or simply grab a Cloak of the Iron Council - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45322) off the AH. Then replace the enchant with Enchant Cloak - Titanweave - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=44591) This will allow you some breathing room regarding the 540 def minimum so that you can replace a couple of those defense gems to help out other stats.

- Replace wrist enchant with Enchant Bracers - Major Stamina - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=62256)

- Legs replace gems with Solid Majestic Zircon (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40119) in blue socket and Vivid Eye of Zul (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40166) in yellow

- Glyph of Thunder Clap - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43399) is a must for any normal Prot Warrior

- Could consider taking the 2 points in Cruelty and throwing them into Imp Shield Spec to help smooth out rage generation by improving your rage on avoidance.

- Weapon throw on an enchant based on what you are interested in:
Threat = Enchant Weapon - Accuracy - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=59619)
EH = Enchant Weapon - Blood Draining - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=64579)
Avoidance = Enchant Weapon - Blade Ward - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=64441)

Thanks for the advice :)

Squirrelnut, I did as you suggested and got the glyph of thunderclap. The Black Knight in Heroic ToC was a much easier fight after I applied it. You also confirmed what I'd been thinking about my spec. I'd taken points out of shield mastery and safeguard to put into cruelty and deep wounds (My old spec was something like 13/3/56) but it didnt seem like the added crit was worth the loss in rage on avoidance.

I'll be following through on your suggestions with my gems and enchants as soon as my titanium all sells and I have the spare cash.

On a side note, I got Legacy of Thunder the other night in Ulduar and am now RIDICULOUSLY over the minimum for defense (548 currently). I think a couple more defense gems are gonna go.
