I just hit 80 bout a month ago. I run around with 3 guys all the time. We keep trying to do heroic dungeons and people keep telling me I am not geared enough. So I say "where should I get the gear" they say go do a 10 man naxx.

Then other people tell me the opposite. So I came to this site and read the Polar's Easy Pre-Naxx Tank Gear List (http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f97/40966-polar-s-easy-pre-naxx-tank-gear-list.html)
I have all the gear on this list or better, with the exception of an external belt buckle. So my stats are now:
22.4k HP
22.5k Armor
535 def

What am I ready for? heroic's or 10 man nax?
I have completed UK and CoS heroics. Got to the dragon on heroic Occ, failed not because of me because we were on dragons.

I can't link the armory because I can't view it here at work.

You're ready for heroics. 535 def isn't capped for raiding.

I would start here.. http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f97/41986-cider-s-easy-540-defense-gear-guide.html

Get your Def to 540 and work on your health pool.. try to get to 25K unbuffed.

Have you worked on your rep with the various factions that will allow you to add some valuable enchants to your gear, as well as good pre-Naxx tanking gear? Sons of Hodir, Wyrmrest Accord, Argent Crusade, Knights of the Ebon Blade, etc...?

Keep farming Heroics so you are able to purchase the upgraded gear from emblems of Heroism.. be over prepared for Naxx, imo.

Good luck!

p.s. you need to be at 540 Def before you tank Naxx..

What do I need to be at HP wise for heroics and naxx?

Well there are two different issue, Gear and Pug Mentality.

Gear wise you are fine, some heroics might be a bit tricky but you can easily do H-UK/Nexus/VH/AN with decently competent group. But yea there are plenty of upgrades in heroics for you and if you can get you hands on crafted Titansteel Helm and boots, those should give you a nice stam boost (which is what pugs usually look at). I hope you get the idea.

Here is some tips for gear:

1. Get this on pants Jormungar Leg Armor - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=38371)
2. Since you hit is pretty low I would get this on weapon till you get a better weapon Titanium Weapon Chain - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41976)
3. I would get def enchant on chest to get to 540 defense in case you somehow get a chance at naxx or any other raid, start with VoA and OS10 they are pretty easy as tanks.
4. Following crafted epics are worth getting

Armor Plated Combat Shotgun - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41168)
Tempered Titansteel Helm - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41387)
Tempered Titansteel Treads - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41392)

I have put them in order of what you should get them as the only gun replacement is in ulduar, helm replacement is in naxx25. IMO gun is a must have.

5. For badge purchases get the neck first (only 25 badges and an awesome item)

Chained Military Gorget - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40679)

This is probably worth readin The Badge err... Emblem of Heroism Pick Order - Warriors - TankingTips.com (http://www.tankingtips.com/2008/11/28/the-badge-err-emblem-of-heroism-pick-order/)

6. Heroics to farm,

H-VH : Bolstered Legplates - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43500)
H-AN: Essence of Gossamer - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37220), Ancient Aligned Girdle - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37241)
H-Gundrak: Horn-Tipped Gauntlets - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37645)
H-UP: Red Sword of Courage - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37401) (More Like Red Sword of Never Drops :( )
H-OK: Bracers of the Herald - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37620) (or pay 1k gold to buy this Bracers of Dalaran's Parapets - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40734))

7. Get +18 Stam kit on gloves
8. Get to Argent Crusade Revered ASAP for this Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44150)

** Trust me its not hard to get to 25k unbuffed with just crafted items and some rep stuff.

Hope this helps

EDIT: Just Like Moridin, lot of post while I was typing this Wall-O-Text, Hope you get some out out of it :(

***EDIT: Didn't realize so many people posted while I was writing this. But, here's my overlapping two cents.

First off, looking at your armory from the drop down menu.

Gotta be 540 defense for Naxx. That is the defense minimum to be un-crittable by raid bosses. If you enchant your chest with +22 def it'll probably put you over 540, there is no need to be exactly at 540, anything over that is just extra avoidance. It's not a cap, just a minimum, avoidance is always good.

That guide is a good idea of where to start, but not many people will let you tank Naxx without doing alot of heroics.

Get the Tempered Titansteel Helm - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41387). It has a meta gem slot and alot of stamina, to help you get up your HP. It'll be hard to convince a pug to let you tank 10 man Naxx with less then 30k HP buffed. But, in reality you should be able to do it >25k.

Also, the Armor Plated Combat Shotgun - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41168) from engineers is a nice tanking peice and will probably last you a while.

H VH drops some legs that are pretty good, also not hard to do.
H OK drops really good bracers, but one of the more difficult heroics.
H AN drops a good tanking belt, but also a more difficult heroic.
H UP drops the Red Sword Of Courage, good tanking weapon.

You have an +AP enchant on your gloves. Change that to +stamina or the plus threat enchant.

Now, heroics will always be before Naxx, they are about the same gear requirements, but finding a PUG that would allow you into Naxx with <25K HP to tank is going to be near impossible.

I'd just start with heroics and start putting together a set of gear, the learning curve for a Warrior tank is pretty rough, and it'll be practice. Just do as much as you can, and try to get into a guild that runs 10 man Naxx or find a pug 10 man naxx that's willing to give you shot.

What do I need to be at HP wise for heroics and naxx?

Now-a-days on my server they will think twice even if you have 28k unbuffed but 25k unbuffed should be good IMO.

I have tanked naxx10 with almost similar stats as you, but that was when wrath was new and people were willing to put effort in naxx.

so what should I work on first getting more HP or getting def capped? One of the suggestions was to remove the +275 health to chest and add the +22 def to chest.

Thaks for the help so far guys.

The 540 def minimum is a must for Naxx 10, that should be your first priority. Once you get there, you can work on the other stats. Def enchants and the HoL trinket, are an easy way of getting to the defense minimum.

another good site for guidance is Wow-heroes.com You will see your current gear (depending upon whether the armory is updated or not). Many times you will be able to see what is suggested for enchants and upgraded gear.

The key to all of this is research and planning... If you need a trinket that is only dropped in H Gundrak, then run that instance as often as you can to try and get the drop... Same holds true to rep with any given faction. Work on the dailies until you get what you need...

Have fun! but most of all be patient and enjoy the process of getting prepared for higher level content and don't rush yourself... you are not in a race to the end!

you are welcome, get def enchant to chest and cloak and you will be >540 instantly, that way if someone needs an OT for naxx10 you can always put forth your name.

Do OS10 and VoA regularly, OS10 has awesome ring and you dont know what you might get in VOA (I was never lucky :( )

Also, remember skill > gear in almost any situation
