It seems that currently the Attack Power gained via Bladed Armor is not recalculated when changing presence (specifically important with Frost presence).

The recalculation is only done when changing any piece of gear, or changing zones.

For tanking this is important, because if you are in your tank gear, and change from blood presence to frost presence, you will not get any increased attack power from the additional armor gains unless you remember to switch gear out and back.

For DPS this can be exploited by going in frost presence, then changing any piece of gear, then changing again to your intended gear set, then changing to blood presence. You will retain all the attack power you had gained from being in frost presence and will probably have 300 or more DPS than you would otherwise.

I actually reported it as a Bug on the WOW forums. I'm not a big fan of exploits

This could just be a display bug. I've noticed on my DK since day 1 that it always seems to take a long time for the AP conversion to update in the character window after changing to/from frost presence.

I thought it might be, but I actually went to the test boss dummy and went from about 1600 dps up to 1900 dps.

This is a lag in the display updating. It has been this way since the beta. It does change on the spot, and it does update eventually, it just doesn't do it as you click the button.

They haven't fixed it yet, but it's not actually affecting game play, promise.

The way it used to work is it would change after about 30 seconds...it doesn't ever change at all now. Could be display only but I must have a heck of a lucky crit streak to get my dps increase then

I've just tested it, and s/he's right. The auto-recalculation isn't working at the moment, and it's not just a display thing. I'm linking the images, because they're full screen.

I had my tanking gear on in frost presence. I switched to unholy, waited a while, and it never changed. I beat on the target dummy until it registered 30 melee hits, and got this:

Went back to frost presence, got similar results:

Went back to unholy presence, switched gear, got the adjusted AP. Did the same test, got this:

It's well past the 30 second "pulse", and there's a measurable difference in average damage. Also, as another test I went into RFC:

Before:

After:
http://ttocs7.shackspace.com/bladed%20armor/WoWScrnShot_050809_024225.jpg

This would probably be better displayed in a video, but the results are easy to repeat on your own.

Edit: This bug also works with a priest's inspiration. Same gear, go in frost presence, wait until a priest crits and procs inspiration, swap a piece of gear out (and back), get extra AP. I have 3375 AP now in the same gear. Trinkets like the Furnace Stone are in the same boat.

The AP Calculation is redone any time your stats change. Horn of Winter casts, Unholy Strength procs, and various other raid buffs will all wipe the effect of this.

Given that knowledge, I would say that this is mostly a non-issue. At best, it will give a DPS DK a few extra seconds of 300 AP. At worst, it will be wiped at the start of a fight by some other DK casting Horn of Winter or a Shaman dropping Strength of Earth.

Oops. Should have tested that. Yeah, it invalidates it whenever stats change, so you won't be getting much out of it.
