First time poster here and was just curious on my proposed ulduar setup and spec, imo it covers most bases I used to be a more avoidance orientated tank, but since naxx is so easy I jumped ship for threat orientated peaces....

Yes i know its a ways around the corner, but I have been thinking about it alot lately, and if 10 man ulduar => 25 man naxx, my thoughts are that I will need to go back and pick up some of that missed and neglected avoidance stats.

My current spec is the dps tank spec, so i can pull 2k throughout naxx, I am the current guild mt and have never fell short on our progression, threat was way off for our first maly downing, raid wipe during enrage but we still got him, after I picked up some more threat orientated peaces it hasn't happened since.

I am just worried that my current avoidance stats are not good enough, or lacking in places due to the expertise gemming.

here is my proposed gear and spec: chardev.org v6 ~ a World of Warcraft character planner (http://www.chardev.org/?template=139668)

current spec and gear: The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Twisting+Nether&n=Inshius)

Just wanting to know thoughts etc, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Inshius.

For the most part, you're spot on with your gear. You certainly have the EH to tank progressive content. Though your expertise stacking has gone a little overboard imo. I might be wrong, but I thought that expertise really maxed out around 8% due to DR.

You can remove your Mark of Norgannon - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40531) and put in Lavanthor's Talisman - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37872) or Valor Medal of the First War - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40683) to boost you're avoidance a bit. Personally I'd like to go into new content with more than 21.8% dodge and 16.4% block like you have. Or just remove some expertise gems and use +24 stam gems to boost your already big health pool.

I'm guessing you don't have much of a problem with threat since you have Last Laugh - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40402) and you have high hit and expertise on top of deep wounds. With that said, you can shift your talent points over to protection more. Considering that we don't know a whole lot about the encounters in Ulduar, it's tough to find a perfect spec for the new content. However, I still would like to see some points in sheild specialization, imp spell reflect or imp disciplines.

yeah from the looks of things it looks like frost resistance might still be needed at least for the hodir fight, im not that much of a fan of block to say the least, in my proposed spec I tried to keep dodge as my highest stat and a fair bit of block.

Currently not knowing I was trying to get 25k armour, then make sure stats are roughly balanced decent amount of expertise, health, hit and defensive stats.

and if you look at my purposed spec and gear that is what i plan on running with come ulduar.

I'm not sure what you mean by DR here since neither boss stats nor expertise are effected by it. But in any case the dodge expertise cap is 6.5% and the parry is 14% (http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f200/41907-frequently-asked-questions.html). So he's fine on that front.

I don't really know what you'd need progression wise for Ulduar. But any gear that lets you farm Maly is probably good enough to get you in the door... More so if you're planning on doing Ulduar/10 and have access to 25 man gear.

well i am thinking that my current spec and gear is way to low to progress with, its more of the standard naxx maly farm mt build, which in my opinion is not something you would want to progress with as my current avoidance stats are very wrong for any sort of progression raid, I got lots of health but I do not think it makes up for the loss in avoidance stats 4% dodge vs 3 k hp... and armour 23 k vs 25k
