A couple questions surrounding the mechanics of Maly and the DPS getting the 50% dmg increase and the tank being able to keep up threat during that.

I was tanking him on 25man for my guild recently, tanked him on 10man many times, but always dps'd 25 because of needs. I had a VERY VERY hard time keeping up threat, I've never encountered this problem before on anything. Since I was having a problem they asked if I was ok with them picking up the warrior who normally tanks it and I dps'd which I said was fine. He kept threat easily, and is geared pretty comparable to myself.

I am wearing mostly 7.5 gear, I didnt have much in the way of hit or exp before that fight, I have recently changed my gear set around alot. I gemmed for the +hit and stam and the +exp and stam gems all around, and am using a few slightly different items.

I am sitting at 37 expertise atm(9.25% or 223rating) and 164 hit(5%) The problem I seem to have is almost all plate has hit on it, while leather has none. How are other druids handling this or is this just one of those things that war's can drop threat faster because of them being able to equip faster weapons? Im very new, was 68 @ wotlk launch, so could someone clear this up for me?

Oh, and If I left stats out you need to know to answer this let me know, I'll post it.

He's tauntable (I know he is tauntable in 10 man, and I assume it's the same for 25), if DPS catches up, just taunt to stay on top. The fight is designed to have DPS chasing your threat.

Yeah he's tauntable but Arcane Breath will also wipe the raid, thats just a little too close for comfort..... My question mostly surrounded what can I do differently to gear for more threat in comparison to war and druid gear with hit and exp, rather than just taunting him when a lock or someone pulls threat.

Sorry, what I ment to say is that since tanks have to keep moving, and sometimes DPS will get buffed by double sparks, it is normal for DPS to catch up with tanks on that fight.

The idea is taunting before you lose aggro, once you see someone climbing above you in threat, it will match your threat to theirs, and it will give you a bit of time to work on threat.

Gearing wise, there's not many options, other than gemming and enchanting to compensate the lack of threat stats in your gear.

What do you guys do post vortex? locks, mages, or anything with a dot will come out of that +110% and could potentially one shot the raid, I know the obvious answer is tell dps to watch their threat. But they didnt have to with the Warrior, is this one of those class differences that we're just going to come out on the ass end of it? Or can Druids do something different to not have threat issues like warriors do on that.

You could ask some of the other raid members to help out. Ask warriors to intervene and paladins to use Hand of Salvation (think that's what it's called). Perhaps the warrior's vigilance and intervenes (assuming he was intervening, I find myself having to do this quite a bit on this fight) can explain the differences in your respective threat outputs.
