Hello Tankspoter's,
It has come to my attention that through my few posts there are people wishing to know more and more about Blood spec tanking. For the few that actually logged onto my server and asked me questions about my spec, I hope that this helps.
First off my armory:
The World of Warcraft Armory (http://us.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=frostmane&n=bloodomen)
So many ask me, "Why tank as blood spec?"
The answer, I prefer blood spec compared to the other spec's due to it's more closness as a melee class than the other spec's. Blood spec gives you play much like an Arms Warrior with a few tricks.
As blood spec people claim we rely on "self heals" to be effective when in fact, to my spec, it's just a bonus. What really makes a tank of my spec is Vampiric Blood - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=55233). What this initially does is not only grant you more HP like Last Stand - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=12975) but makes all heals 50% MORE effective. As a 1 minute CD this ability allows your healers to use lighter heals for the same effective healing as their major ones AND conserve their mana for those drawn out raid fights. If you feel low on health and have Vamp blood up, your little "bonus" heal can be a major one indeed, I tend to see 10K plus heals on myself in raids.
Ok, so as you may have noticed, I am 41/14/16 spec. There are a couple reasons for this exact spec that I use to maxamize my performance.
1. Heartstrike.. since 3.0.8 patch, heartstrike hits 2 enemys, making it a very benificial multi mob aggro handler.
2. Lichborne.. a very effective "oh shit" button giving you 25% chance to be missed.
3. Annihilation.. this gives 2 reasons, one you wont lose your diseases with an obliterate, and 2 you take full advantage of rune mastery giving you those nice Death runes.
4. I have taken full advantage of reciving every bit of strength and stamina I can get, picking up Veteran of the Third War - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=50029), Abomination's Might - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=53138), Ravenous Dead - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=49572), and Shadow of Death - Spell - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=49157). These in talents alone, give you 13% added strength and 8% added stamina.
As for rotations I drop DnD (every time its up, 30sec CD) IT, PS,Pest(if multi targets), HS, (OB or DS both will grant deat runes) HS(spam as long as DnD is CD'ed, both diseases are up, and you have Death runes). Runestrike should either be spammed when it's up or have it macro'ed to each attack for max use.
(This is my usual rotation, but varies upon # of mobs, including addition attack such as blood boil for holding many targets.)
This should set a basis on alot of people's quetions about being a Blood DK Tank, if you have any additional questions or conserns please feel free to post.
