View Full Version : Gems and Talents-Enough to Main Tank w/ Boss Nerf?

Title sums it up: wanted some opinions and thoughts on my new post-3.0 Gems, Enchants, and Talent spec: The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Stonemaul&n=Rootkitworm)

1. Stats: I dropped my HP from 17.5K unbuffed to 15.8K because I felt it necessary to add Strength, Hit, and SbV gems/enchants post-3.0. Got rid of a lot of avoidance/dodge because of Critical Block and hope the much higher Strength/SbV will help mitigate the damage just as the avoidance had done. My SbV now stops about 800 dmg without any special trinket/buff. With Shield Block up it jumps to about 1430. Would Shield Block Rating cause more overall mitigation/reduction then higher SbV at this time? Anyways, hopefully this isn't going to get me killed. Replaced Mongoose with +20 Strength on my Mallet and +18 SbV over +18 stam on my ZA shield. Been tanking with Gruul Plate DPS gloves, "Gloves of Martial Perfection", with +15 Strength.

2. Talents: Respec'd to 2/5 Deflection, 5/5 Cruelty, 0/5 Anticipation, 3/3 Puncture, and no Last Stand. I see Last Stand as more for PVP then PVE, because if my health gets that low I can Shield Wall. Also in my experience when my HP gets that low then usually the rest of the raid is already dead: The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Stonemaul&n=Rootkitworm)

3. With the new nerf to instances, is this enough to be alright to main tank T5 and T6 until Wotlk and then use this same spec in 15 days to level/tank with thru Wotlk dungeons/5 mans as well?

4. Would anyone suggest I really need to bother switching out gear for boss fights? Only other real avoidance pieces I could switch out now are: Bracers w/ dodge off Na'jentus, Commendation/Pocketwatch/Shard, Bonefist Gauntlets from ZA w/ parry, SSO 'Aldor' neck.
