View Full Version : Feral/Resto Arena Spec?

So I was playing around with talents and came up with this
http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?druid=0532021300221120000000000000003450331003150 0301311000000000000000000000000000000000

This is geared towards 70 arena now, but could get a lot better with 10 more points.

I like the idea of this because the +70% healing based on agility it could be fun. Also I go deep enough into resto to get the seed and no interrupt cyclone/roots. I wonder what type of gear could make this work or if it would.

Mainly looking for input as I'm still kinda an arena nub. What would you change or what are some advantages of this spec?

I'll ask Cynocide to drop in here, he's switched to a pvp resto druid lately from his warrior, and he's been contemplating the same so maybe he can give you what he's been testing with.

I for one, believe more info is needed. At the least the below:

What is the spec aiming to do, how will it be played out?

What kind of gear is planned to match this?

What kind of PvP is this aimed for? If 2v2, who is the partner in mind?

Here are the downsides to that spec:
- No 1-5% increase in healing and damage done from Genesis,
- No mana regen from Dreamstate nor Living Spirit and you don't have any mana cost reduction talents,
- No sublety = many happy priests and shamans purging your hots/buffs,
- Survival instincts sounds good, for feral druids, but you live longer with ToL form against melee and you can still roll hots without shifting forms.

That's just a brief overlook of your spec. Are you trying to go feral with better healing abilities? It looks like you're only going to be mediocre in both of those instead of great in one. Feral charge/longer bash duration is nice but now, it isn't worth losing the mana regen and healing power for it. We are now more defensive than before imo.

To also add, feral/resto isn't great if you're semi-half/half. With the DPS burst teams now, you'll die quicker than you can pop out and heal. Secondly, if you're locked into a fear chain, you can't heal either. Priest/Mage, Priest/Lock, Mage/Rogue will blow you up with a chain of fears, counterspells/spell lock, stunlocks where you won't have a chance to heal/reply hots.

I would choose either resto or feral instead of a mixture of both so you'll be more effective in pvp/arenas. For a feral spec, I would chose something like: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0ZxGMsfbdbeRhfuAo0gcz)

wtb banning of shaman/ret paladin. amirite? amirite?

seriously, SHHH don't say anything you're giving klor/muggs ideas.

What? I'm just saying that shaman/ret paladin is so underpowered that they're not a viable arena combo...yeah...that's it..

on another note though, this weekend i'll respec to go 0/8/53 so i can pick up imp spell reflect and imp disarm, 40 second cd on disarm +10% more damage = good for offense and defense, and imp spell reflect means i can reflect silences and stuff cast on you =x

Awesome. We'll see how that goes. :P

I really didnt have a plan to use this spec. I dont arena much and was playing around with talents. I like the idea of being able to feral dps and pop up for a heal, but like you pointed out... I would die waay to fast, and with all of the changing back and forth would likely go mana dry fast as well. Guess Ill stick to my balance/resto thing I do now lol

Thanks for the replies though, better than me wasting a respec only to find I die even faster in the arena.
