I thought they stopped back in 2001 or something? Didn't they announce they were stopping a long while back?

I remember they did, but they changed their mind, obviously. I didn't ask any questions. :)
Here in Germany season 19 is about to start next week.

Are you saying that you didn't watch the Simpsons for SEVEN YEARS?
Did you even miss the movie?

I believe they stopped making the series while the movie was under work, but they started again with season 19.

I did see the movie! But I saw it thinking that the series ended and this was like a reunion movie. :(

Not only is the Simpsons still airing but The Simpsons continues to be the best show on tv.

It used to be one of my favorites but the shows just don't deliver like they used to. I get a lot more laughs from newer shows like Family Guy. I think it's inevitable that a show airing for 20 years runs out of geat ideas like it used to have.

My problem with family guy is it runs a joke into the ground before it moves on. Do i really need a 5th chicken fighting scene that lasts for 4 min. Or do i need to see the same joke for 40 seconds at a time when 10 seconds was funny enough.

As far as I know, it's been running since it began in '89.

It's on the 20th season now.

I have the same issue with both shows. I have the first 3 seasons of Family Guy on DVD. After that I didn't find it as funny. I haven't found the Simpsons to be funny in even more years than that. Like you said, in Family Guy they drag stuff out too long. In the Simpsons, it just seems like they are trying too hard. Trying hard to be funny != Funny. Funny should just happen.

Just when I caught up on Heroes and Lost, I realize I'm years behind on a good series. :(

I only saw the first season of Lost, the second season disappointed me and turned me off the series.

I am religiously following Heroes, however.

Lost is like Alias, or (dating myself now) Twin Peaks. The first season held my attention like nothing else. Everything after that was so far out in left field I scarcely knew what I was watching half the time.

^ Although I knew Simpsons hadn't gone off the air, I've just been lazy.

Spidermarmot!

Simpsons is not my show, I'm more into the family guy kind of comedy.

Yeah Cider, Lost is a great series, I've been watching it since it started. The only problem I have with it, is each episode creates more questions than it answers. I don't see how they could wrap it up and answer everything :p

I absolutely hated Lost after the first three episodes that ABC tricked me into watching. As Bloodwraith said before, It never answers it's questions which I find infuriating.

The Simpsons is probably the greatest TV show of all time. It recreates itself every week. Somebody compared the show to an old school Etch a Sketch.

Quoted Time Magazine. "Dazzlingly intelligent and unapologetically vulgar, the Simpsons have surpassed the humor, topicality and, yes, humanity of past TV greats."

I find this statement so true. The only show IMO that even comes close was Seinfeld.

Heroes is nothing but a Soap opera about superheroes and a complete rip off of the X men comic book

Once I found out the voice of Bart was done by a 40 year old woman it just lost that special feeling......
