hiya, I am Looking for a good tweaking guide for Vista. Does anyone know of one or have some performance suggestions for tweaking it for gaming?

Vista 64-bit?

There are plenty of things you can do to tweak it. I'll see if I can't find the list I used once I get back from dinner.

Cool thanks! I am running 32bit atm, but I'm considering going to 64. I've just been a little leery of being able to get drivers and such.

If you have an Nvidia card prepare to google ways to make whatever driver version you use work with games. For instance for the newest 9800 drivers, you can't play war3 without turning off SLI. Nvidia + Vista = pain in the ass.

Give your hardware specs and the devices you're concerned about drivers for. I'll tell you flatly, though, that there's just about no chance you'll have issues finding good drivers on 64-bit.

I have Vista 64 on my new laptop. Was a bit leery of going off XP but I am almost ashamed to say I find it kinda nice. That damn search bar at the bottom of the start menu is awesome. No trouble finding drivers for anything.

It gets 59FPS in raids, too :D

know of any potential issues running an 8800 GT nvidia card with Vista?

Satrina I also switched from XP to Vista 64-bit recently (Love it). No problems with drivers at all. In major cities I sit over 100 fps, most I've noticed was 192 fps out in SMV. I've got a Nvidia 9600 GT 1GB.

I don't think there would be, they have drivers for it:

Thanks for the infos. I can run WoW at max video settings at my max monitor refresh rate with no problem at all. But in AoC it is struggling to keep an even 40fps in raids so I was hoping that hoping up to 64bit to take advantage of the rest of my RAM might help a that bit a little. In addition to the hourly "out of memory" errors I get. ><

One reason I was looking for a tweak guide for Vista was that there seems too long of a pause when I click on menus and things like that. Never had that issue with XP. I dont think its hardware, I'm running a quad core with a 9800GTX, 6 gigs of RAM. SoundBlaster XFI sound card. So I was hoping its maybe something in the background going on I can turn off.

A really good website for various tweaking guides (mostly for gaming) is TweakGuides.com (http://www.tweakguides.com) and there is actually a very extensive vista tweak guide on that website (an XP version is there as well). There are tweak guides on that page for quite a few of the most popular and recent games too, but not every game under the sun.

The Vista system guide is actually called the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion by the way, mainly because the author couldn't use things like "Microsoft" and "Windows" in the title of the document, its found under the system guides on the web site.

I looked up that vista guide but it said if you don't have vista CD's don't start and when I bought new comp the company didn't send CD's with it(I need to call them about this :p)

There is also a guide on there about tweaking your graphics which I'm checking out right now.
