View Full Version : OH Enchant for fury

Wondering which enchant I should use on my OH. I've heard some say mongoose and some say potency, and to me potency seems the better choice since I've had mongoose on OH in the past and it doesn't seem to proc often enough to overcome a static 40 attack power. Am I missing something or is potency the way to go?

if you have low AP or short on gold get +20 str, if not go with mongoose..generally it goes executioner MH/goose OH

Or executioner depending on your ArP and level of progression.

Well I'll have exec on MH and since they don't stack...

well executioner doesn't stack it does refresh from an OH proc. so it can ahve a lot of up time. i peronally think the Mongoose for OH is best 4% crit on a pro basis vs 40 static AP pretty much.
Mongoose OH for the crit gain = more flurry uptime = win.

Several tests conducted on EJ have shown that Exec/goose is the best MH/OH pairing for DPS assuming you have a decent AP level. If you are hurting for AP though going for potency (+20 Str) is a good alternative that's cheaper too, but if you really want to push your dps to the max exec/goose is unbeatable.

I've always found that minor beast-slaying makes the mobs laugh so hard that they don't notice you've just executed them for 10K.....
(PS 20str if you're poor or your OH isn't permanent, otherwise goose)

Mongoose it is then! Got my s4 MH today (had to get the fugly mace though, for pvp purposes =/ ). So next up is OH (axe I guess, for the 2.6) and then Mongoose!! Unless I break down and get OH sword haha...

To be clear the crossover point can be described as:
"Close to the ArP cap and doing over 2000 DPS on a regular basis".

ArP cap? explain prz.
2000 dps on a regular basis...um wtf? Do I suck that bad, or does 2000 dps regularly out of a fury warrior mean you are in full T6/SWP gear?

It takes a good bit of gear to hit 2k dps.
Dual wielding two 2.6 speed 114dps weapons,
900 Armor pen,
3,000 attack power
180 hit rating
& every buff you can think of (Might, kings, MotW, LotP, Battle Shout, Totems, etc). Without the buffs it drops to 1,155.4dps.
Really, its the gear.
umm, ok, can you please link me an armory of a fury warrior with 3k unbuffed AP? I have seen 2600 on a warglaives rogue, don't think I have seen more than 2200 on a fury warrior. My raid is downing Rage in Hyjal, and I am in the neighborhood of 2100 AP unbuffed, so finding another 900 from gear seems out of the universe for me.
Ok this post flummoxed me so much I had to check. It is not physically possible for a fury warrior to have all those stats unbuffed right now. With the crit/hit/ArP requirements you are showing, than even with warglaives and the legendary bow a warrior might get to 2400-2500 AP unbuffed, and I still think it would be almost impossible to even do that. Were you posting a hypothetical? To get to 3k AP unbuffed you would probably have sub 120 hit rating and sub 20% crit.
Again, if I am wrong I would love to see an armory, and would be the first person to apologize if I am proven incorrect.

Best I could do (I think) was 2657ap unbuffed.

What about prot warrior dps set? Potency still beaten by mongoose?
That would take some math to figure out....prot dps does not benefit as much from crit as fury because of no flurry....and I believe dw devastate gets mroe from strength and AP than crit. I think it would depend on what your stats are without either enchant, and then make the decision from there.
