running 64 bit I presume? That sounds sick. I'm currently running 2gb but I'm thinking about upgrading it to 4gb as well, just not finding a need for it yet, my comp is running everything amazingly smooth.

My comp right now is atleast 5 years old, came with bare minimum stuff (256 ram, 64mb video card) and a really old processor. Lately its been getting slower and slower, even though I upgraded the ram to 1gb and video card to 256mb. It has errors and stuff too =\

Now that I have a summer job I can afford it =D

I heard that the phenom wasn't a very good cpu, overheated alot, though i heard it a while ago, they might've fixed it.

Grats though, i'm still stuck with 1gb of ram t_t

I found that going to iBUYPOWER: Custom Build Gaming Computers Desktop PCs, Notebooks (http://www.ibuypower.com) and doing the configurations myself I could gets a better computer for basically the same price. Going to try to call in and cancel the order since the lazy people haven't even shipped it yet =P

nice man, why 9600 and not 9800 though? on the vidcard?

It woulda costed me twice as much =\ and I don't wanna spend a ton on this, anything is an upgrade from what I have. What are you running for your comp?

well, from the advice that i got when i built mine, for the GeForce Video cards, the latter 3 numbers matters more for performance than the first number, I think an 8800 GTS or GTX would've probably been as good/better than your 9600. Lemme try to find the link and see if what I'm babbling about is true.

I'm using an 8800 GT 512 right now.

Here's one:
nVidia Chips Comparison Table | Hardware Secrets (http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/132)

It shows that the 8800 GT the one that I have, although a slightly slower Core Clock, but has the same Memory Transfer Rate/s and has almost double the frames per clock.

here's another comparison or two:
AnandTech: Bringing Competition to Midrange: The GeForce 9600 GT Raises NVIDIA's Sub $200 Bar (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3234)
Nvidia's GeForce 9600 GT graphics processor - The Tech Report - Page 1 (http://techreport.com/articles.x/14168)

Technically the 9600 is supposed to be cheaper than the 8800 because of what I stated before (the latter 3 numbers is more important), the 9xxx series is just a newer model of the GPU. If you can get an 8800 for the same price I'd say grab that instead.

Graphics Cards Buy Now (http://www.nvidia.com/object/graphics_cards_buy_now.html)

Well I already ordered, and I'd rather not have to cancel and reorder another one. You're right though, I could've got a 1GB 8800 GT for about 15 more bucks but I didn't know better, for WoW and possibly AoC I'm sure it will work well enough. Next time I buy a comp I'm going to have to look a lot deeper into everything =D

Edit: I guess I just saw 9xxx and figured that was probably better than 8xxx lol

yeh, I didn't know squat either, that's why I asked here for help, didn't even know Dell had an outlet online and thus saved probably 6-700 dollars on my latest pc.

the 9600 will run WoW and AoC pretty good so gl to ya! ;D
