I am an officer in a guild called Sparta - 3 weeks ago we cleared ZA, we used a Prot Tank and Feral Tank combo.

Now that it is on "farm" many people are nagging to go, many of our trials have thottbotted the zone and realised the kit is far superior to Karazhan. This has ended up with us telling people they are not kitted for the place and need to spend more time gearing up in Kara before allowing them to have a slot in Za.

The question i was asked tonight was "What stats do I need to be MT of ZA"

Here is the kit from the guy who asked:
The World of Warcraft Armory (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Arathor&n=Tokaro)
HP: 16604
Hit: 41
Expertise: 16
Def: 492
Armour: 15419
Dodge: 15.79%
Parry: 17.33%
Block: 26.33%

Here is my kit - im the current MT for ZA
HP: 17098
Hit: 107
Expertise: 28
Def: 508
Armour: 17784
Dodge: 22.91%
Parry: 16.32%
Block: 25.23%

If I was to set him target stats what would you recomend?

I would say he needs way more dodge. I would ballpark 20% or higher. I would also suggest more armor, at least 16.5K. I just started ZA and my stats more closely resemble yours than his.

If you can get him into the EH calculator, this topic should help him immensely.

It looks like he's emphasised health and left out everything else... a common tanking mistake. He needs more threat stats, and more avoidance.

Boots of Elusion, T4 or ZA shoulders, and the Badge Belt are some easy, good upgrades he should be looking at.

Furthermore, he could look to respec to pick up Cruelty. It'd be good for his threat.

Also, Panzer-chest would be nice.

He has more than enough health/armor/avoidance to do the tank intensive fights. He could MT ZA without any worries. If he can back up his gear with skill (and skill can't be determined through stats).

Obviously he still has weak spots in his gear... his leggings must've been horrific if he chose the 2.4 legs over the 2.4 chest while still wearing the Jade-skull. He should either spend the badges or the time in SV to get a new cloak (seriously, regular SV takes like an hour with a group that out gears it). And he should either pick up pvp shoulders or push to do the handful of possible drop upgrades (SL, Heroic Sethek, Kara, HKM).

I had similar stats when we started ZA way back when... it took us a long time to down Zuljin but it was never the tanks gear that mattered. Honestly ZA is all about good mix of dps and a group of ace healers.

I think Lynx would be hard without more avoidance.

Put a feral on the lynx and then no worries - it really isn't a warrior tank fight. But a hunter who is quick with the tranq shot really makes the lynx not a big issue either -- while that fight has tanking minimums certainly it all comes down to how quickly your dps takes out the totems and if your healers can keep the tanks up while healing the fair amount of raid damage.

His stats are fine for ZA. You could tell him he's not quite ready to do it as easily as you would like, but saying he's "not kitted" for it is an overstatement.

As for upgrades to suggest, I think it's pretty much a no-brainer:
Chestplate of Stoicism (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34939)
Slikk's Cloak of Placation (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33593)
Girdle of the Fearless (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34941)
Bracers of the Ancient Phalanx (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33516)

With the Chestplate alone, he's definitely fully ready for ZA. The rest will just help him be more efficient and reliable.

He needs new shoulders too, but those should come from ZA eventually and what he has should suffice until then.
