K, I bet there are tons of topics around kara and if they are ready for it. Yesterday my guild took me in kara for the first time and I was Ot (of course, MT had 17k armor and health) And wanted to know what should I run to get more upgrades to help me in kara. Also, if i should drop any gems I got on now to switch for something else. And, I hear 490 defense is the magic number for being uncrittable but also hear 495. Does anyone happen to know which one it is for sure, if so thanks!
Get about 13.5k health with commanding shout and fort.

I would recommend the thread linked below. I used it to gear myself up when I hit 70.

I'm still not in the position to do Karazhan yet but I am getting there.

Also, the Be Imba site can give a visual cue as to how your gear is and a few examples and suggestions of upgrades

I used polars pre kara gear guide. It contains no droped items just quest rewards, crafted, and rep. Makes it easy to get where you need to be and likely you will get some drops because several of the quest rewards come from dungeon quests. Jus dinged 70 couple of weeks ago and tanked curator yesterday and now working on besting Prince, although, were having problems healing through the crushes and he's licked us several times now.:)

Please be careful about telling people to use the Be Imba website, it is very misleading, especially to a tank new to kara. Example, it is saying that 51 hit is way too low, and that I need to be at 142. THERE IS NO WAY a tank at kara level of progression can max hit without gimping many other important stats. Berg and Polar's guides are much more user friendly for starting kara and other raids.

Yep, i have to agree with you. Be Imba is not as Imba as it makes out. It is useful to get a visual cue though. Although Berg's list is a much better idea.

I only hit 70 5 days ago and I have tanked Kara already using the suggestions found in Berg's guide.

Berg's list is very useful indeed. There quite a lot of pretty good gears out there, and more are coming when 2.4 hits live.

But anyway, Seems like you got some Kara gears already. Im not sure how you are financial wise in game, but I would suggest replacing some of the +9 stam gems to +12 stam. Unless you have badges available and willing to buy the new gears(sadly 2.4 will be out in a few more weeks and new gears going to come out as well) then try replacing it w/ good quality gems. You'll be surprise how long you're going to be wearing it until it is replace.
