Jungle Stompers.

Why? Jungle Stompers got 12 def less. Is block value better then def?

Is there someone some guide or article BV vs DEF ?

its not about block value better than def.

for 1 the jungle stompers gives more hp.

2 the sbv is higher
3 defense after 490, although good for stacking avoidance or reaching uncrushability, is not as sought after than obtain higher EH which is obtained through SBV, Armor, and HP.

So it doesnt reduce that much dmg as SBV?

Ok, one point of defense (not defense rating), increases Dodge/Block/Parry/Chance to be missed by .04. Since the Jungle Stompers give .38% more block rating (according to Wowhead), that area is a wash. 12 Defense Rating is about 5 Defense, and 5*.04*3 (number of avoidance stats increased by defense besides block) = .6. So you get .60% avoidance with the Red Havocs. However, you're going to be getting 60 more HP (assuming an SSoE) and 17 BV. I believe that after multipliers that 17 BV becomes 22. Not only is that BV going to mitigate damage, it is also going to help on aggro with Shield Slams. Personally, the Jungle Stompers are better.

sbv reduces incoming damage, POST armor and defensive stance reductions, by X amount when an attack is blocked.

1000 attack * .4 (60% reduction from armor) * .9 (defensive stance) = 360 incoming damage.

Now if you have 300 sbv, and you hit shield block. This 360 damage will further be reduced by 300 damage.

so in your combat log you will see:
Monster hits you for 60 (300 Blocked)!

So yes it infact does do mitigation, and in smaller hits, its very effective mitigation. for this example you can see that 300 blocked damage, of 1000 is 30%, however, post armor/defensive stance Mitigation, it is 83.3% additional mitigation!

I like the Red Havoc myself (Partially because it cost a couple K of gold for pattern and mats) but it also allows me to not have to socket for defense, keep my Darkmoon trinket, and have the Brooch of Deftness while maintaining 490 defense. That is one of the "problems" of the loot from ZA is the lack of defense on some really nice pieces (Helm and shield). However, if you don't already *HAVE* the Red Havoc boots don't spend the cash for the pattern or mats. Plus if you're having bad luck with the Stompers dropping you can buy the Pally badge boots which have more stamina than both of these.

I'm not voting either is better, just that Red Havoks let me pay more atention to other things withe the higher defense, allowing me to use my Blazefury, Bonefist's and Broach of Deftness, Auto blocker and Darkmoon card while still maintaining 490 def.

When i finally get my mallet of the tides i may switch if the y ever damn well drop...

I got the Jungle Stompers before the Red Havoc patterns started to rain down onto our guild. We currently have three patterns in the bank and I am not bothering to craft them as they are so similar.

I enjoy the jungle stompers for their easy access, EH, and SBV.

A bit more defense wouldn't make me want to go out and farm to make boots that are just on par with ones from the first boss of ZA. (second, if you go after Akil'Zon first)
