View Full Version : What's your prot pvp spec?

I'm trying to come up with a good prot pvp spec. I'm considering this for now:

What's yours? What would you recommend I change in mine?
Thanks in advance!

Prot spec just for pvp or a spec where you can tank pve and still do some pvp?

Just PvP :)

Is the spec I've run with, very nice Shield Slam crits and overall damage. Use a mix of pvp and +shield block value gear to get the best benefit from it.

Another option if you are willing to sacrifice 5% crit for that Intercept cooldown. Not something I'm willing to do myself but its an option.

I tried the spec you linked before, but I find myself too rage starved without Focused Rage.

And half the time, unless I was getting hit, I'd just run after someone waiting for a white attack so i could hamstring. It was silly.

I'm also not really willing to give up 5% crit because I don't really get too much crit from my prot pvp gear. (I do have 940 Block Value though :O)

I think the spec I linked would be better rage wise, because it has 5% crit, Focused Rage, and Unbirdled Wrath.

It misses out on Anger Managment (Oh Noez). And Death Wish. But has enrage, which is quite nice, and sweeping strike Shield Slams should be fun too.

So... we'll see :) Hopefully my Arena Team will stop hating me...

This is my first post so forgive my noobness--I haven't learned how to link talent calculator yet. But, my prot spec, which i want to keep viable for instancing, reaches SS with 2/3 shield mastery and 3/5 1h weapon. The rest of the 25 pts go all into fury to reach 5/5 Flurry.

Before that I tried SS with 3/3 shield mastery 5/5 1h weapon, the rest into Arms up to 4/5 sword specialization. I was hoping for more rage build up with extra hit procs.

I'm still, like you, experimenting. I just reached 70 last week, so I just got my first epic piece, and of course, I choose the pvp shield. My SBV is only around low 300's but its lower when i wear more crit/str armor. I hope blizz makes more armor/weapons with SBV *AND* pvp type stats. Unless they made Defense a significant factor to pvp. I get the impression from the guides, defense ratings has no effect in pvp. True?

I'm trying an enrage/devastate(0/20/41) build this weekend, and so far, it's better than my pve tank build(11/5/45). I'm using a mix of BV, S1, S3 gear with the S1 sword and S2 shield. I can still tank in AV, plus I seem to do better in 1v1 due to enrage. Piercing howl is particularly nice for people trying to 5-8 you(kite in less than intercept range). I was pleasently surprised how well Unbridled Wrath and Shield Specialization combine to generate non-damage rage. Improved Shield Bash is pretty nasty to casters, since you can silence and daze someone, then follow up with concussion blow after the silence wears off. I do miss Anger Management and the points I had in Iron will though. I suppose level 80 will be kinder for strange specs.

Original Poster: If I were you I'd drop improved disarm(possibly the worst warrior talent ever), and pick up the other improved bloodrage point and some Toughness. 37 is a solid shield-based prot build, but you don't really need deflection in pvp, no one worth worrying about will be striking you from the front. Improved Execute, weapon mastery, or even some Vitality might work better for you. If you dropped 3 from Deflection into Vitality, you'd be at the point where you decide whether you'd like Devastate or Sweeping Strikes.

I'm going to try this one next week: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=LZVxzu0xZcEt0c0zfxsu)

Imp Revenge is nice but I don't spend enough time in def stance to get the most out of it. Imp Shield Bash is a must.

I don't see all the points in Arms to get Deathwish as being very productive so I go Fury for the Enrage proc.
