Taunt: The chance for this ability to land successfully on its target is now increased by hit rating. Likewise with Challenging Shout.

This is an upcoming change in 2.3 posted in the latest Patch Notes (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/test-realm-patchnotes.html).

I would hope it's the same a melee. Stacking extra hit just for taunt would probably not be worth it.

Actually Joana, there is no mention in the patch notes of the Paladin's taunt being effected by hit rating, only the druids and warriors.

Maybe Blizzard should change the pally +spell hit to plain +hit. Which mechanics does Avenger's Shield work off?

Yeh I'm not sure what to think about RD being moved to melee hit. On the one hand, it means if we want to make sure everything important lands we need to max out spell AND melee hit... on the other hand, I'm pretty close to maxed melee hit anyway just because it sneaks its way onto so much tanking gear.

All in all I think it doesn't mean much of anything.
